These guys were just great. They helped me move from Anchorage to Girdwood, AK, and were very professional, on time, hard workers. I had to move in December, and it was really cold and icy they had solutions for all that and worked overtime because I was not as organized by moving day as I'd hoped to be. Thanks!! Great company.
So I moved my family up to Alaska in March. Alison's Relocation Inc had the best prices (by far). We moved an entire truck full as well as a car. It didn't break our bank account.
Alison's did a decent job of getting our move from AK to ID completed but there were quite a few inconsistencies in what was said initially and what actually went down. First the good. They moved all our stuff from point A to point B with minimal breakage. I can take the blame for all of the breakage as it was probably how we packed and loaded it. Our vehicle arrived there as is had left Anchorage. No complaints there. Price was reasonable also. The bad is as follows. Many things that were said during our home visit aren't how it went down with the quote. They have some disfunction at their office and the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. We really weren't told that we only had 2 hours to unpack at the destination and we weren't told the details of when the time would start. The two hours started when the vehicle was out of the container. That would have been nice to know. Also they got the delivery address wrong as well as my cell number. The driver attempted to deliver the trailer to the wrong address and he couldn't get ahold of me because he didn't have my correct phone number. Luckily I saw the truck drive by the storage place and ran the guy down. Additionally, I was told that my household goods and vehicle were the only things that were going to be in my container. Not the case. They double dipped and stored a big crate behind our Expedition and never mentioned it. Our driver clued me into their scheme. Overall I was satisfied with the move but way too many inconsistencies, some of which I didn't mention here.
Alaska's earthquake hit us hard. And we had to move out of our house for 3 months while repairs were done. And I mean move everything out. So we had to empty the house and do it in a hurry so the contractor could move in and fix our home. Enter Alison's Relocations.... In a world where mediocrity passes for excellence and people don't do half of what they promise and still expect to get paid like they're the best thing since fresh air, Alison's Relocations did everything they said & more, charged us a fair price for the work, and dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's in the process. And while their estimate was hard to unravel -- I mean, let's face it, we're not in the moving biz so all those dollars & cents weight & time estimate calculations & storage fees hoodoo are a mite arcane to us -- in the end it turned out to make perfect sense and was less than we expected. And we appreciated the time Alison's office staff spent explaining things to us to make sure we fully understood the charges. Above and beyond, people. Above and beyond. The way it ought to be. But the best part? The best part was that their movers showed up on time and worked like a team of relentlessly mighty mules or a team of Herculean heroes to get the job done. Eat your heart out, Atlas. And you'd better shrug, bubba, because the boys from Alison's would put you to shame and work you into the ground. I can hear you callin' your mama already. Alison's movers carefully packed and wrapped and numbered everything and made a careful inventory -- and when it all came back exactly as promised and they worked just as hard getting us settled back in? Wow -- we were speechless. Haven't seen guys work like Alison's guys in a long time... Come to think of it, not since I used to work like that and the GC told my boss that I worked twice as hard as anybody on the job. That's Alison's! There was no standing around and shootin' the breeze for these boys. And they didn't drop or mishandle or rough handle any of our furniture or perishables, either. These guys worked so hard they wouldn't even let us buy them lunch -- even though they more than earned it and we'd have been pleased to do it. It was "get in, get it done, and be polite and respectful while you're doing it." Yep, 'Wow' is the word, is the word, is the word. Would we use Alison's again? Yep. And plan on doing just that when we move next year.
DO NOT USE ALISON'S RELOCATION COMPANY! CONSIDER THIS AS YOUR WARNING! DO NOT BE LIKE ME, WHO GAVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT AFTER I READ BAD REVIEWS. I ASSUMED THAT BAD EXPERIENCE IS A CASE TO CASE BASIS, THINKING AS LONG AS I AM PREPARED, I WILL BE ABLE TO FILE CLAIM IF THERE IS SOMETHING DAMAGED OR LOST. WRONG! UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME. I TOOK PICTURES AND VIDEOS. BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP WITH MY CLAIM. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. HOUSEHOLD GOODS NET WEIGHT 3106 LBS, FROM ANCHORAGE AK TO ROSAMOND, CA. PAID $6126.02.PRE-PACKED SERVICE. I PACKED SMALL ITEMS THEY DO BIG ITEMS AND JUST LOAD. TWO MOVERS CAME AT 9:15AM, TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED AT 10:30AM, THEY PACKED FROM 9:15 TO 3:00PM. TAKE NOTE EVERYTHING IS PACKED. THEY ONLY NEED TO WRAP AND LOAD. 2 BEDROOM SET, TV'S AND DINING TABLE. AGAIN, EVERYTHING ELSE IS PACKED. THEY TOOK 3- 30 MINUTES BREAK AND 1.5 HOURS LUNCH. ONE MOVER EVEN SNOOZED ON TOP OF THE MOVING BLANKETS AFTER LUNCH FOR 30 MINUTES. THANK GOD I AM NOT CHARGED BY THE HOUR, I THINK. MY SECURITY SYSTEM CAPTURED THE ENTIRE EVENT. I CHECKED BEFORE THEY LOADED OUR ITEMS. THE GUY THAT IS PACKING, INSISTED THAT I DON'T HAVE TO CHECK THE LIST AND WORRY ABOUT THE LIST WHEN RECEIVING THE ITEMS. I TOLD HIM, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS LISTED, SO I KNOW WHAT TO RECEIVE. TRUE ENOUGH, I FOUND TWO TV'S THAT WERE NOT LISTED, MY 50 INCH WAS LISTED AS 32 INCH AND MY 65' TV IS NOT LISTED AT ALL. GOOD THING I CHECKED. TIME FRAME, APRIL 19, HOUSEHOLD DELIVERED IN ROSAMOND, JUNE 5TH. WE WERE INFORMED THAT OUR HOUSEHOLD GOOD ARRIVED IN MONTANA (THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY PLACE) MAY 10TH, SAT THERE UNTIL JUNE 3RD. DELIVERED TO OUR HOUSE IN CALI JUNE 5TH. WHEN IT GOT TO CALIFORNIA, WE CHECKED AND MADE SURE THAT EVERYTHING LISTED IS ACCOUNTABLE, DAMAGED ITEMS ARE LISTED. BUT OFCOURSE, WE MISSED ONE. AFTER THE MOVERS LEFT, WE TURNED ON ALL OUR TV'S AND DISCOVERED THAT OUR 65' TV HAS A CRACK ON THE SIDE AND CREATED A WHITE LINE ON THE SCREEN. I EMAILED AND SENT PICTURE RIGHT AWAY, THIS ALL HAPPENED AN HOUR AFTER THE MOVERS LEFT. EMAILED WAS TIME STAMPED. THEIR RESPONSE: CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT ESTABLISHED THAT THE ITEM WAS DAMAGE WHILE ON THEIR POSSESSION. REALLY? WHY WOULD I SPEND MONEY SENDING IT AND PAYING FOR SHIPMENT, I EVEN REQUESTED AND PAID $150 FOR A CUSTOMIZED BOX FOR THE 2 TV'S. THE FIRST THING THAT BOTHERED ME WAS, THE THIRD PARTY COMPANY DRIVER, HIRED A LOCAL MOVER THAT HE KNOWS TO HELP HIM UNLOAD. TAKE NOTE. THE PERSON IS NOT EMPLOYED WITH THE COMPANY. IT IS JUST A RANDOM GUY FROM THE AREA. $5000 WORTH OF DAMAGED, THEY WANT TO SETTLE IT TO $200. I EMAILED THEM BACK TO FIND OUT HOW TO APPEAL DECISION. I WILL UPDATE ONCE I HEAR BACK FROM THEM.
