Alligator Self Storage - Carbondale

Great experience! I have a unit that I’ve rented at Alligator for a little over a year and it’s been great! Great customer service from the employees as well. Would definitely recommend Alligator to any and all of my friends.

Be warned. The glowing reviews are either A) Fake or B) From new tenants whom they put on their best suit for. We’ve maintained two large units for nearly a decade. The prior owner could have been a little faster changing burnt out bulbs but they were easy to get a hold of and never raised the rent.

Since the new owners took over, our rent has increased on both units at least half dozen times EACH to the tune of several hundred more per year. They’ve made token improvements like some mouse traps here or there and a new keypad but that doesn’t justify nickel and diming a long time customer. What’s all that extra money being used for? Certainly not for the tenants benefit.

They are rarely in the office and getting a hold of them is like pulling teeth. They also force tenants to pay for their scammy insurance if they don’t have their own. They literally went with the most unreliable, poorly rated scam company they could find.

But this is all to be expected from a rich Chicago slumlord buying up property downstate. Clearly they have a rental price they’re shooting for. They’re just trying to avoid losing tenants by increasing it a few bucks every few month as if people are that naive.
