I wanted a well planned move for myself but in reality it was all last minute planning due to the delay in finding a place to move to. Having 5 days before my move and Thanksgiving in the middle of that, I was a little stressed but I found them on Thumbtack and they responded. I had Available Movers move items out of a 10x10 well packed storage unit that another company poorly packed. 2 guys for 4 hours and they came about 15 mins late but moved the whole time. Even unloading they were trying to help put everything in its place and remove plastic I had on my items. They were great and I would use Frank and his team again. He is a smaller guy but strategically putting items on the truck and moving my furniture I would want him for the next move. Thank you!
With the understanding that everyone's experience may be different, here is a detailed description of my interaction with this company for our move. The Good: They are diligent packers, and will protect everything moved, no marks on the walls, no damage to furniture of fragile items (like big screen TVs). I give them an A+ in this regard The Bad: The quoted price does not reflect the end price. They will tell you, "you signed the document, so you knew"... but be careful because the total price they list on their "estimate" doesn't actually include about an extra $200 of fuel charge and taxes. They also took an hour longer than planned with the move. I was given a quote for a $1050 move that ended up costing me $1350. They were easy to get a hold of to schedule the move, but would avoid picking up the phone to talk about things leading up to it. The manager of the company clearly screens his calls and only picks up if he recognizes a number he wants to talk to. He even said this "oh I didn't know that was you, so I was sending straight to VM" when I called him from my work phone. The day before the move they asked to start 2.5 hours later than the planned start time, stating one of the movers had a child who needed to go to the dentist (things happen, so I said sure). But then, they arrived another 1.5 hours after that (4 hours after the original start time we agreed to). The workers also seemed to drag a bit. They took 3 hours to do work (loading the truck in a 2200 square foot house) that should have taken them 1.5-2 hours because everything was boxed up already. Quite a few times I would walk into a room they were packing, and one guy would be taking a bed apart and the other two were just watching him (instead of moving boxes that were sitting right there... or starting to work on the next room). Also, during the 15 mile drive to the new house, they stopped for gas (which ended up being a 14 minute stop). This made no sense, for a truck that large to need to get gas during a 15 mile trip. Shows poor planning, and at worst the possibility that they planned to bring a truck low on gas in order to add another 15 minutes to the move time for the stop. I feel the entire move should have been completed at least 33% faster with people just going at a "normal" speed. My experience wasn't horrible with this company, but it cost me a little more time and money than it should have. I will try someone else next time.
AMAZING Experience.... Available Movers did an amazing job for our move from a single family house to another. The whole process was straight forward. Pricing was right. The crew was courteous, professional and friendly. Arrived on time on move day and got us settled in the new place without damaging anything. I will be sure to recommend anyone planning to move.
