I write this review simply to inform potential customers what trouble you may encounter in a long distance move utilizing Clinton Movers. I don’t dispute or give discredit to the many people who will say wonderful things about Mr Jackson or his company, this is solely based off of my experience. The first portion of the move went extremely well, a group of professionals came into our home, packed and loaded our belongings in two days. My wife was given a detailed list numbering each box and every piece , she was specifically instructed to inventory every item when it came off the truck. The following day I was called with the total amount owed and was pleased the amount total was close to the amount quoted. Here in lies where everything falls apart. On that Friday I was told to expect my delivery between the following Monday to Wednesday, Monday morning I received a call saying my load would be delivered Tuesday, Monday night I was told Wednesday, I told Mary I could not take delivery on Thursday due to other obligations, I was then assured it would be Wednesday. Well Tuesday afternoon I get a call saying I got pushed back to Thursday , explaining I could not take delivery on Thursday, I was scheduled for Friday. The day of our delivery by far was the most stressful and agonizing days of our move. So many items came off of the truck damaged, many pieces completely ruined, They somehow got gas or oil on our couch, we were not afforded the opportunity to inventory anything, a vast majority of items were pushed into the garage, nothing was reassembled like they specifically said they would; ie beds. They damaged the walls in our newly built home they scratched the newly installed hardwood floors. I still being in New York received a distraught call from my wife, explaining the situation, I attempted to call Mr Jackson with no luck. Then finally finished the driver tried to use intimidation and threats to my wife trying to get her to sign his bill of laden stating all items were accounted for and in good order. Fortunately I did purchase insurance and everything can be fixed or replaced. What I have since learned is; as the customer the laws are not in your favor, what you may consider reasonable damage is not what Mr Jackson would consider reasonable. The insurance process can be long and drawn out. Mr Jackson will only do what he is legally required to do, if you think he is a morally upstanding individual who stands by the 31 years he’s been in business you are incorrect. His exact words to me are, “These things are happening more than I care to admit, but as long as people keep calling, I’ll keep hauling.” I made one simple request to Mr Jackson, please replace the couch now, get it to me in SC, this was a terrible situation, we just moved from our family, I’m still 850 miles from my wife and child, this would make a terrible situation just a bit more tolerable, Mr Jackson refuses. My only hope is that if anyone reads this they will think twice, do some research, find a reputable mover who will stand by their work, and have a good moral and ethical compass. It is my intention to document the rest of this journey and to update everyone, how long it takes to process my claim, how much time, effort, and cost I continue to have due to Mr Jackson’s negligence and ineptitude.
We can't say enough about the professionalism, work ethic and quality of this company. They moved us in below zero, snowy weather. They put blankets down on the floors. They took things apart, wrapped them and packed them efficiently in the truck like Tetris pieces. "You're lucky mam, you've got the best in the business right here!" That was definitely true. They went above above and beyond. They were kind and funny. The cost was very reasonable and after their hard work, under terrible circumstances, it was worth every penny.
The entire staff was wonderful to work with, an extra special thank you to Adam and Matt who went above and beyond! Very happy I chose Clinton Moving and Packaging. It pays to hire the best.
