Review:

If you don't have the time to read, then at least look at attached pictures and video to get a sense of the ordeal. I don't often write reviews but I feel it's important to share the experience. I spent about 20-30 minutes on the phone with the sales rep detailing the packing and moving requirements I had for a 1 bedroom 1000 sq ft condo. We were moving my parents from a 2nd floor to a 1st floor in the building next door. Nothing to load on truck, just a short walk across the courtyard. In addition to the condo, contents of a storage unit in basement needed to be moved as well. In the preliminary conversation I detailed and itemized every piece of furniture, amount of stuff in the closets, how many closets, contents of storage unit, and size of storage unit. The rep estimated it would be about a 7-8 hour move including the packing. I booked them, 4 men. On the morning of, the supervisor called and said he was sending 5 guys for an additional $25/hr because he wanted to get it done and not let it go too late. I said fine. They arrived on time, 5 guys, showed them the 2 buildings and logistics. They walked in and their attitudes were never the same. They complained that it was a big job, they would never get it done in one day, they needed two. They didn't have enough supplies. A lot of moaning and complaining. I explained I went over it all with the rep. They called the office came back to me and proposed moving furniture and packing, and the rest, the next day. I said I would like them to assume they were doing the whole job in one day and see how far we get. They got a little defensive saying of course they would operate that way. And so they began. After about 30 minutes one guy had put together a box, packed it, lifted it to move it and it all fell apart and everything spilled to the floor. Luckily mostly pillows and just a few other items that didn't break when they hit the floor. He starts cursing, getting upset. Says the company provides "bad" materials, keeps mumbling disgusted. I said that I was concerned that if the materials were not good what is going to happen when they pack the breakable dishes and such. Then he starts raising his voice to me going on in a rant. I told him not to raise his voice to me, his frustration is not my fault. He then says he quits and walks off the job. Spoke to the foreman about the situation and he says all the workers were at "wits end because it wasn't what they expected, let's just get through this". I reiterated again it was not my fault. He then starts to raise his voice and starts arguing with me about the situation. I reminded him I was the client and I took out my phone and he said "go ahead, call the office" and stormed off. I spoke to the office twice and decided to let them keep working because now I was stuck with half a move happening. I was asked to help one worker with a couch, I didn't understand what he wanted and he got frustrated, got one of his guys and proceeded to point out that I couldn't do a simple task. I told him I was not the replacement guy and I hired them to move. He said he was just looking to get a reaction out of me....I'm the client, total disrespect. I remained present but silent the remainder of the time until I saw the foreman packing a box that he just starting throwing things into.See video. When they started packing dishes without wrapping them or even bubble between piled layers I spoke up and asked if they thought it was wise. Again got attitude back..see pictures. One guy went off on me and so I videoed. Unfortunately only was able to get tail end of it but you can see the attitude. They packed and moved the entire apartment in 4 hours. I dismissed them and did not have them move the storage unit. If they did, it may have been a couple of hours equaling the original 7 hours quoted. So nothing was misrepresented that should have caused this attitude and disrespect. Hire them or not...your decision. All I know is I felt disrespected by rude, loud, irritated workers in my own home. Simply outrageous.

Priced the job at $1,100, a few days before our scheduled move date the price gets increased to $1,800. The morning of our scheduled move the crew shows up and says that they need more guys and don't lift a finger. I start to move items from the second floor to the first floor for them, and ultimately the team leader says he has to go (without doing anything) and says that another crew is on their way. Well, that wasn't true. We follow up with dispatch and they come out to check out the job to see why it was such a big job that required more movers. It was ultimately determined that the job was a standard job and should have been done by the original team without any objections. My wife and I were left stranded without any options for the rest of the day. The next day a new crew came to the house - essentially the same crew with a different team leader. The crew and new team leader were very nice and worked hard, but unfortunately I still had to be very involved and was pouring sweat helping the team out. I left the property briefly to get a coffee and I come back to a large hole in the first floor at the base of the steps - they say they'd come out to repair it the next day, but I had to be out yesterday, so how does that work? I should have just rented a UHaul and done it myself. Worst business interaction I can remember, $700 (64%) increase to original quote, fail to move me out on the dated stated, I had to do a large portion of the lifting / moving myself, and then they damage the property and don't do anything actually helpful about it. I cannot tell you how big of a regret hiring this company was. Word to the wise, think twice about a company that is OK letting you down in so many ways and not doing everything they can to make it right. Extremely disappointing.

I used Collegian Movers twice in the same month. Both times they were polite, on time, responsive to my needs, and very careful moving my items thru the house & on to the truck. They stuck to their quote & there were no surprises or hidden fees. We had 2 different crews and could not have been more pleased with their professionalism. Highly recommend them.
