Upon the recommendation of the company where we purchased moving boxes, we hired David McCarthy to move a small amount of furniture and personal belongings from Bradenton, FL to Inver Grove Hts, MN in December of 2018. McCarthy told us he frequently made trips to Michigan so he would include our small load on a truck headed to Michigan. At that time we were also advised that we would probably not get our things until April due to the winter weather. Not a problem at that time. We were also told that if there was a larger moving company headed our direction we would get our stuff at an earlier date. Well, April came and went and no word from McCarthy. After numerous attempts to get in touch with him we were getting very frustrated. Finally we got a response that it would be a bit longer before we got our stuff as he had nothing coming our way. A little frustrating on our part but we were patient. May came and went, as well as June with no word from McCarthy. At this point we were quite angry and contacted the box company to see if the business had problems as we needed our stuff. Again after messages left for McCarthy with no response we were beyond furious. Finally McCarthy got back to us but with news that in order for us to get our stuff we had to go through a third party at more cost to us. Instead of the $1,600 we were quoted this was now costing $2,300 and that we had to either unload it ourselves or pay another party $360 to unload it. To say the least we were not happy but what alternative did we have. We were unable to unload due to health issues and we were unable to arrange for any family or friends to help. In our opinion, Mr. McCarthy totally misrepresented himself and his company and did not complete the job he was hired to do.

Great experience with David and his crew on our move from Lakewood Ranch, FL to Charlotte, NC

My husband was in the furniture business for over thirty years as a dealer for Knoll, Herman Miller, All Steel and more. Our home is also furnished with these manufacturers along with several pieces of fine art. So, when we moved to Central Florida, we hired David McCarthy Movers. They were licensed, insured and capable of handling "high end valuables". Throughout this move, they were extremely professional and took great care building a crate for our 80 x 74 oil painting. Needless to say, four years later, we contracted with David McCarthy Moving again. Due to elevator constraints at our new location, the oil painting was left on the truck and housed in conditioned space until the Ringling Museum could receive it. Once delivered, David McCarthy personally attempted to unwrap the piece when the museum quickly stopped him. When fully unwrapped, by museum personnel, we were informed that the painting had not been crated at all and was merely covered by felt blankets and cardboard. The fibers from the blankets and pieces of cardboard were now embedded throughout the paint. The Ringling stated it was virtually worthless without an expensive restorative process. We have tried to contact David McCarthy by phone, text and email for his insurance information, to no avail. We truly appreciated his service in the past. Why he is jeopardizing his reputation now, is beyond belief. Hopefully, he will read this review and cooperate as a responsible, ethical conductor of business.

Just used Dave and his crew to move me into my new house and they were quick, professional and very fair priced. Highly recommended!
