I should have read the reviews before hiring DMI Movers. BAD EXPERIENCE FROM BEGINNING TO END!!!
I am in agreement with the previous comment. DMI Movers are the worst people I have ever dealt with. I have moved numerous times throughout my active duty and contracting career for the service and have never been dismissed, disrespected in such a way. My family and I were contacted by this moving company and given a fair price to move our household goods from state to state. After signing the paperwork and my spouse flying back to meet with them to load our household goods, things changed drastically. The men that came to load our household goods on their truck increased the price determining that our belongings needed repacking! Our goods were already packed and in storage. After spending several hours arguing with them over the phone and speaking with the supervisor, they agreed that no money would be owed at that time and that it would be revisited, it never was. We were asked when we wanted our household goods delivered we said three days. We were told no problem. The third day arrived, no household goods. It took two weeks to receive our furniture after being told four times that it had left on transport and was on its way. We were given four arrival dates, which never arrived. When the company finally arrived, our glass was broken; our goods were repacked in a way that many of our items were blatantly stolen. Things were removed from boxes and placed in other boxes or never made it to us. Our smaller televisions were placed in the bottom of boxes and my husband’s radiators were placed on top of them, scratching our televisions. My large flat panel televisions were scratched. Air Hockey table hardware missing! Expensive items missing! We had to pay them 80% more of what the original cost for our move. I have called and tried to file an insurance claim on my missing/broken/scratched items and was told my Lee that I didn’t opt for extra insurance. These people do bad business. So if you are looking for moving companies BEWARE, this is not the ONE!
Moved with DMI Movers this Summer and had a wonderful move from A to Z. My moving crew was on time, neat, respectfull and very knowleadgeable about their craft. I have moved more that ten times in the past 20 years and the servise I received from this company was way up there in the 4-5 star ratings. Not Good, but Great service, will use again and will tell my friends all about them. Thank you
The whole moving experience overall was a pain. The movers that picked up were good, very efficient even though the price was nearly 70 percent higher than the estimate. The driver that dropped off required additional shuttle money (money that I was told I wouldn't be charged) that he wanted in cash because he "needed the money". He was rude and told me he was making a special trip for me. FINAL PRICE WAS 60% HIGHER THAN ESTIMATE. After hearing about this experience Jonathon (the manager) contacted me (May 1st) and attempted to rectify the situation by offering a 450.00 refund. A company check arrived two days later but bounced when I deposited it (the same day). I called him and let him know that not only was it ‘officially’ returned (May 7th) but that I had a fee from my bank of 12.00 which he agreed to cover in the second check. He promised an overnight CASHIER'S check with the additional reimbursement of my fee. He told me the check was dropped off in the a.m. (May 9th) (which it wasn't according to the receipt) and that it would arrive the next day (it didn't). He neglected to write the full address so UPS couldn't find me. I asked him to call and straighten it out (May 13th), he said that he would but UPS ended up contacting ME and asking me for my address because they never spoke to Jonathon. When I got the check (May 21st) it was another company check (not the cashier check promised) AND he didn't add the 12.00 fee I absorbed from my bank on his company's bad check. If you are in this situation, I highly recommend that you take the check directly to their bank (which I did the second time) and verify that it is good to avoid the fees. DMI won't reimburse you. Before all of this happened I attempted to talk to Lee in the office (or Liraz) but was ignored. It wasn't until I posted here originally that I was contacted. Getting the refund was due to more effort on my part, keeping up with Jonathon, making sure that he was doing what he promised and catching him in lies. It's not worth dealing with this company. If you must, good luck but it's not worth the headache. Despite the fact that I rec'd the refund, I still tell my family it wasn't worth the stress. THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE, PICK ANOTHER ONE.
Worst moving experience ever. They low-balled the estimate by 100%--when they picked up the inventory they said that it was DOUBLE the weight they gave for the estimate and thus my costs would be double. I believe they give too-low estimates to intentionally mislead the customer since other people have reported the same thing happening to them by DMI Movers on Ripoff Report. The lady who handled my account, Liraz or "Lee", said she couldn't give me an estimated delivery day until the week before I wanted my things delivered. I abode and she told me that my things would be delivered between 14-15 February. Fine. So February 14th comes around and I have heard nothing from her. So I called her and asked for an update. She told me she has not heard from the driver and gave me his cell phone number. So I called the driver on his cell phone, and he laughed when I asked if he would be here tomorrow (the 15th). He said he was in South Carolina (my things were to be delivered to New York) and that weather had delayed them and he didn't know when he would be able to deliver. "Maybe" the 17th or 18th. So I waited and waited. I kept calling him every day, and the date kept being pushed back. What was supposed to be a 14-15 February delivery ended up being almost a week late. At one point the driver called me and asked if I wanted to "meet him halfway" with a truck of my own and take my things. He was over 1,000 miles away. When they finally showed up, it was just two guys who seemed to have hardly any moving experience. The drive offered to GIVE ME someone else's furniture because they had not paid the moving company so they refused to deliver it. At one point they were handling my couch up the stairs and told me the door frame was too small for the couch. They thought about taking the door off its hinges and they were about to give up. I told them to unwrap their nasty blue moving blankets from the couch so it would fit. They did, and amazingly, it did. Oh and when they arrived, they demanded their payment BEFORE they would unload anything. Rat bastards.
