Dubuque Moving & Storage

Called to inquire about their services to potentially hire them for a company move and was hung up on! That's a first. I'd recommend calling a different moving company that would appreciate your business.

The driver from this place tried to run me off the road. Nice guys

Movers were polite and courteous. I had left my house while they were packing up my home office so I could work from a second location and told them to call me when they were done and ready to go to the new house. They called after they had already arrived at the new house, so I stopped by the old house to make sure they had locked up. Turns out left my front door wide open (not just unlocked actually OPEN). I didn't want to make a big deal of it so I locked up and met them at the new house and mentioned quietly to one mover what had happened. They were very apologetic. The next day while unpacking we noticed things missing, so I went back to the old house to see if anything had been left. They left 2 carloads of stuff in the house, and left half the windows on my second floor OPEN. It got to -13 degrees that night and my windows were open. I called the company to complain and was told they would call me back. I waited a week, called again, was told they would call me back. Waited another 2 days, called back and was told "The movers don't open windows. They don't lock/unlock doors. It's your responsibility to make sure they remove everything from your house." I was told I could come in and have a meeting with the movers, I'm not entirely sure what that would accomplish since either they lied to management or management is lying to me. Manager at the company told me if I wasn't willing to watch the crew like hawks and basically be their supervisor I shouldn't have hired them. I wish someone had told me that before I paid them nearly $3000. Manager told me if I wanted to tell the world about my experience to go right ahead, and if I ever needed to be moved again to call Mayflower. I suggest you all do the same.

Movers themselves were great. HOWEVER, the quote I received was NOT what we were charged. We were charged $56 more than the quote. When I called and spoke with Kurt he was very rude and told me he would refund me $49 but by the end of the call he changed his mind and said he wasn't going to refund. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Kurt was back peddling the whole conversation because he would say something in one sentence and then change it when I questioned what he had said. He is rude and obnoxious. How can you quote someone one price and then change it on the day of the move AFTER the move is done? And.....not only that, he changed the move date 3 times because he said he had other commitments on the day we originally scheduled the move. I should have know then not to use this company!
