Review:

Mike did a great job overseeing our move to New York. It’s obviously a very challenging time with COVID, however they got the job done and done well. The mover were on time, packed well and did an excellent job. No damage or surprises like Mike told us. I’d use them again and refer them for anyone moving! This was our third move in 8 years and the best so far!

International Van Lines (IVL) used a local mover, Energy Moving Systems (EMS), for our move from CT to TX. Energy Moving Systems showed up and packed our stuff, and then stored it for three months, supposedly in a climate controlled facility, while we found a house in TX. We informed both IVL and EMS of our first available date over 1 month out. Both companies refused to give us a window of when to expect our stuff, which made it impossible to plan a cross-country move, especially when you have two small kids. Once we were informed that our stuff had been loaded on the truck, the “expected” date was pushed back 4 times! Both companies told us our stuff was part of a larger shipment that was headed for Tennessee, and that “this is standard industry practice” and everyone was “sorry for the inconvenience, and they understand”. We called IVL 2 days from the latest “Estimated delivery date” to get an update, they said that the shipment was coming in an 18 wheeler and tried to shake us down for more money by saying we would need to get a “shuttle truck” to deliver to our community. When the movers finally did show up, they arrived in a box truck, and the driver said he picked it up two days ago in NY and came straight down. So everything they told us was a flat out lie. Some of our stuff is missing, including two of our televisions, some stuff arrived broken, and 1 of our couch cushions wasn’t even wrapped in blankets and was covered in dirt and grease. I own lots of high-end tools that were covered in rust and there was clearly water damage to my oldest daughters dresser. When we contacted IVL they dumped us off onto the insurance company, who just sent us a letter saying they are only going to cover $108.00 of the lost and damaged costs. Cleaning the couch alone cost $ 200. When we contacted EMS we could only speak with their dispatcher Jay who was more concerned with starting arguments then he was with resolving any issues. Several calls later to both companies and neither is willing to take responsibility, each company refers us back to the other company. We realize that IVL just contracted EMS for our move and doesn’t have direct responsibility for some of these issues, but the fact that they choose to do business with a company like Energy Moving Systems and wont return our phone calls now that the move is done, is a direct reflection on them. Again we have reached out to both companies multiple times and neither is willing to help since we were dumped off to the insurance company. We would like for IVL to take responsibility and reimburse us for some of the damage beyond $108.00, and not default to “the contract” that essentially excuses them for any and all responsibility. Although, again based off our experience so far we do not have high hopes.

My husband and I had to move from Denver to Philadelphia because my mother-in-law was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. With news of our mother plus receiving new jobs back East we wanted to find the most highly rated moving service no matter what the cost to not have to deal with any more stress. This all happened in August but we have not wanted to go back to this place of anger but we believe it is important for consumers to hear our experience...IVL may do great work in the state of Florida but we could not have been treated more poorly. They hired a third party company (SAFE WAY MOVING). They assured us we were in good hands but it could not have been more horrific of a situation. The movers were great upon arrival even though it ended up costing WAY more than we were quoted but the nightmare began when our things were delivered. They opened the side and our possessions were literally crumbled into one ball in the trailer. We were the last stop and they did not have moving dividers or anything holding our possessions in place. EVERYTHING was damaged. We were speechless...the staff unloading said that this was the worst they had ever seen with damaged possessions and then they continued to tell my husband and I about how poorly they were treated by the driver and how he stole their tips. When we confronted the driver calmly he was extremely rude and unprofessional just like his staff and they left without delivering our things into our warehouse. When we called we spoke with Jeremy Smith, he basically told us that we were out of luck because of the type of insurance we had and he did not even want to know what happened with our situation or even care to follow up with us nor did he offer any compensation. Moreover, we just wanted them find another third party company and to care about families in the future so they did not have to ever go through we had to AND THEY DID NOT CARE. International Van Lines need to do better research with the companies they dispatch it was probably the cheapest for them which then the customers have to suffer with poor service. DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND LOOK ELSEWHERE.
