I was quoted a price of $1300 to pack, move, and unpack my belongings. However, once the boxes were unloaded, the 5 employees that had come with the owner, Mr. Darrell Jackson, all refused to unpack them. Items were broken and Smith County Sherrif Dept found evidence that this moving company had stolen some of my property and tried to pawn it. Luckily, Detective Babcock was able to retrieve one of the items that had great sentimental value for me, my deceased husband’s dive watch. The movers knew my husband had served in the military and passed away because I had mentioned it when they were packing my belongings as some were obviously a man’s things, so this made the theft even more egregious and horrible. They knowingly stole from the disabled widow of an American veteran. However when it was time to pay them, , the owner of the company Darrell Jackson insisted that I owed them $3870 claiming that there was an hourly rate in addition to what I had been quoted. There was never any mention of an hourly rate before that very moment as I was in my new living room surrounded by boxes filled with items that his crew had refused to unpack. As Mr. Jackson insisted loudly that I owed him more money, I became afraid and agreed to pay him $2,480 if he would take his crew and leave. He went so far as to claim that the price he had originally given me was only a rough estimate & that he could hold a check until I had more money if I’d just write the check for what he wanted. I told him that was not at all an estimate because what he now wanted was a 300% increase. He said I had to pay. I told him I would pay only what I could at the moment if he would just leave with his crew of men. He agreed, and I dead bolted the door the second he stepped through it. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but Mr. Jackson did not write up a contract for the move, so they were unable to help me. The fact that stolen property was taken to a pawnshop in Jackson County by one of the people who worked for Jackson Moving and was directly involved with moving my possessions & that one of the missing items was recovered by the Smith County Sherrif’s Department is all the proof I think anyone should need to steer clear of this company. Mr. Darrell Jackson showed no remorse when confronted by the police. He told the officers that he guessed the items his employee had been caught pawning had just been left on the truck on accident. He owes me a full refund for not doing the work he was paid to do and for allowing theft of some of my belongings. Dr. R.A. Collier
Very good service the men were very polite and they worked quickly and professionally would recommend to anybody
My family moved homes recently. We didn't move far, but we wanted some help with the heavier items. Jackson Moving arrived right at the scheduled time with a crew of 5 very capable men. They were tremendously polite and easy to work with and treated our belongings with the greatest respect. They caused no damage in either our old home or our new home. We used Jackson Moving because they had been recommended to us by two different sets of friends. We didn't even call other movers for a quote. Based on our experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jackson to anyone who needs a household move!
Would definitely use Jackson again. I was in a bind because my husband was out of the country the week before our move and they shifted some things around to help me out when I called them. It was last minute and they still took great care of us!
Beware of using these people to move you they are overpriced , very unprofessional and if they damage your furniture they will deny it . They moved me on 10/23 a 1BR 1 bath apt one building to another it was the third floor but took 7 hours they charged me 865$ and Beat up my coffee table and buffet cabinet and because of being so stressed from the move I didn’t think to check for damage before they left I trusted them (big mistake). So I emailed to tell them about it but the owners wife immediately got nasty told me the guys said they didn’t do it so basically called me a liar and proceeded to harass me by email for a week would not call me and when I called her said she had tried calling left messages etc. there were no calls or messages . At one point told me if u didn’t have a receipt for the damaged furniture and check it when it comes off the truck that their ins. wouldn’t pay . So if you risk hiring these people remember that . Finally she said they would give me 200$ take it or leave it but that’s not gonna fix my furniture and wasn’t worth being harassed for a week by that woman . I wanted to post this so it doesn’t happen to someone else .
