It took 3 grown men 9 hours to move 2 truck loads 5 miles. They left boxes scattered everywhere blocking doorways and hallways, completely unorganized so we weren't able to find anything we needed after they left. It took us an additional 3 hours to organize the mess they left until we could even walk in to the rooms. Charged my 84 year old grandmother $125/hour ($1100 total) to take their sweet time and make a mess that we had to clean up. My advice is to find an honest person who needs work instead of hiring this company. If you hire Janeks, you will be severely overcharged and will end up doing most of the work yourself.
I’m Dustin’s grandmother and am writing in reference to his honest review. I was at his apartment when he called the moving company the first time to set up the appointment and when the movers loaded his belongings. My intent is not to discredit the company as a whole, but rather to raise the owners’ awareness of the incompetence of two of their employees. I heard the phone conversation between Dustin and Stephanie where she assured him they would send three movers and could certainly fit him in that day. I can attest to the fact that only two people came to move him, and heard the phone conversation with the moving company where Dustin explained the job would cost much more with two people versus the three people promised despite the only $10/hr discounted rate. Dustin helped with the job the whole time, and even called another friend to come help as well. The two young men from this moving company were extremely slow that day. After working for only forty minutes, they took a break for 1.5 hours to get lunch and wait around until the rain subsided. After they returned to work, I watched one man stand there and talk with a young lady who was standing outside. The other man finally joined them and I called Dustin to the window asking him why they weren’t loading his things. They couldn’t seem to do anything without the other, even though Dustin and his friend were also working in an attempt to finish the job. Time is money ($115/hr) and this job was costing him much more than originally planned due to these young men’s incompetence. As it turned out, it took over 3.5 hours to complete the job. When Dustin moved into his new apartment with another moving company, it took three men only 2 hours to unload the same items despite having to walk back and forth the length of a football field countless times and travel to the fourth floor. If they’re going to boast a 5 star review and a quality job well done, they might want to consider hiring more efficient employees.
Great friendly family owned business, they are such and pleasure to do business with.
I am writing this review in response to Dustin Lyle’s review. I am the owner of this company, and I’m fed up with people who think they know everything, spewing online one-sided reviews of a business that supports the Waco community. Since 1997 my wife and I have owned this business and have worked 100% of every aspect of this company. We have done a little over 6000 jobs. Of those, there have been about a dozen that go awry for one reason or another. In each of those situations, we have responded in a way that is fair to the customer, and in the most appropriate way. I say all this just to set the stage to inform readers that we have dealt with every situation for the past 20+ years and have seen all types of customers. But sometimes you just can’t sit by and let someone say things that are untrue and let them get away with it. So let me tell you what really happened with this move. Dustin called us last minute (in our business that is the same week) and asked for a move from my wife. She told him we were pretty tight because jobs usually book one or two weeks before, but she would try to fit him in. She inquired about what he had, and he said he was moving from the downtown area and didn’t have much. We told him we have a two-hour minimum, and he didn’t think it would take long at all: he would have things ready to go. We told him our rates and that it came with a three-man crew. On the day of the move, we had a two-man job that lasted longer than was expected. (As a sidenote, this is what happens when people are not forthcoming with information.) When the time came for the third guy to show up for Dustin’s job, our guy didn’t show up. Because of Dustin’s conversation with the office when he scheduled, I told my guys to head over and assess the situation. I told them to call me if they needed another person and I would come in. If they could do it themselves, I told them to adjust the hourly rate accordingly, as there is a different charge for two-man crew, three-man crew, and four-man crew. I told the guys to get back with me and let me know what they found out. My guys told me that he wanted to talk to me directly. When Dustin called, he was arrogant and said that his job was way too important for us not to take it seriously. He said he had to be out and we were already late and that we showed up with two guys when he was promised three. I tried to explain to him that I was going to adjust the rate accordingly, but this only made him more irritated. I asked him if he wanted me to come in myself, and he had a sarcastic retort like I was a 5-year old. As everyone knows, you can only be belittled for so long until you’re just done. I calmly told him if he was too irritated for us to do his job, he was under no obligation for us to be his mover. We could leave and he could find someone else to move him that he might be able to get along with better. He did not like that and asked to talk to Stefanie. So here’s the weird thing. When she called him, he was very nice to her. She explained him what happened, and she said we would adjust his rate accordingly. He said that sounded great, and when she got off the phone she was telling me how nice Dustin was. The guys did the job, which went a little bit over the minimum. The extra guy would not have saved him more than the lesser rate did. When you work in the service industry, things happen. We are not perfect, and not all jobs are perfect. But you also can’t be in business for over 20 years without doing an amazing job a vast majority of the time. My issue was not with the complaint itself; is with someone saying that we are “dishonest, crooked, unprofessional, and untrustworthy.” That goes beyond free speech; that borders on slander.
Professional, accommodating, fast, and friendly. If you’re in need of a good moving company, look no further. They can be reached via phone or text, and they accept credit cards as well. I have used Janek in the past and I will be using them again if need be. The owners were very friendly and responsive to all of my questions and concerns. They even sent me a card a few weeks after my move. These people really care about their customers.
