Johnnie T. Melia Moving & Storage Co., Inc.

I chose to use Melia after a great reference from a friend and the many outstanding reviews on Google. Sadly my experience was far from outstanding and much less than even satisfactory. Men arrived on the agreed upon date to pack. When they left, they said they'd see me in two days. When they came back a day earlier than agreed to move me, I contacted Melia and even spoke to Brandon Melia, the president. He agreed to give me a discount for the inconvenience. Once the move was done, I discovered that many of my posessions weren't packed or moved. I packed and moved them myself. The final invoice from Melia was higher than proposed - mostly because it took them more hours to pack and move me than they proposed - despite the fact that they didn't even pack and move everything they agreed to. Very unhappy!!!!

Update: The company has reached out to me after my review. Update to 4 stars. Initial review: Overall they did a good job but there were some issues that make me feel like I was taken advantage of and am only giving one star. 1. I feel like they would spend time taking apart furniture to add time to the clock. I’ve moved several times and I’ve never had any mover take apart things like they did. I even mentioned something and they still took apart a few more things after. 2. They got their large truck stuck in our yard and time spent getting it unstuck was added to our bill (probably a minimum of an hour!!) We knew that going in the back door was going to be hard due to some sharp corners so we mentioned the front door. We thought the yard was to soft for them to back up closer but were open to them trying. We made sure that if they did get stuck they had road assistance to get them out but when they did get stuck my husband went ahead and asked a neighbor to help. It took them at least an hour due to the angle the driver backed into the yard. So not only do I have big chunks missing in my yard but I had to pay them the hourly fee for it. 3. So they arrived at 8:40 am but according to the paperwork at the end of the day they checked in at 7:45 am. So okay.. I’ve never had a mover check in when they picked up the truck but the fact that google shows that the business is only 22 minutes away and not 55 minutes shows that something is wrong.
