I had an excellent experience with McAvey Moving, last month. Brian was very helpful and patient when he came to give the estimate and then prompt with the follow up. The crew showed up on time and really hustled to get the move accomplished timely. We moved everything into a Cube Smart storage and the crew was efficient, helpful, cheerful, careful. I look forward to working with them in future.

Exceptional moving experience with McAvey Moving Company! We are a Military and FDNY family who needed to move from our home in Westchester County , NY to Tampa, Florida quickly when our closing date was moved up. We also were moving our son to Bronxville, Ny within that week and had to separate furniture for both places! The entire company was professional and flexible and made a stressful time so much better!! The furniture in Bronxville and Tampa have no scratches, nothing was broken, and the movers went out of their way to make sure we were pleased with placement and set up of all the boxes and furniture!! Thank you Brian and Toni!!! First class company!! Highly recommend!!

A tale of two moves...used them once and was satisfied so I called again. What a mistake. First, the given the first move was from a large house to a small house and we had to throw away two dumpsters of stuff, this should have been a much less expensive move...it wasn't. Second, although we knew we would pay extra to have a portion of the stuff moved to a storage location, somehow, the movers believed that we magically brought in more stuff to move to the location and so they increased their bill AFTER the estimate. Third, the estimate for the storage was based on three men and a full day move. Come move day, only two men showed up (an hour late) and they were done in ONE HOUR. One might assume the bill would be adjusted to reflect the GROSSLY miscalculated estimate...WRONG. Lastly, it was explained to me that base insurance would cover up to $0.60 per pound. Since we didn't have many expensive items, this seemed more than enough. Rest assured, the movers dropped a box and several items were destroyed including some vases that were decently valuable. When it came time to discuss the insurance (it took them several WEEKS to finally get back to me) it was THEN explained that the coverage was ONLY on a per item basis. You guessed it, they weren't covered for $0.60 per pound but for $0.60 per pound of individual items damaged. Meaning, if they destroyed a $400 vase that weighed 3 pounds they were not covered for anything more than $1.80...NOT $180, one dollar and eight cents. We were robbed and we really have no recourse. Would never use again.

McAvey moved my furniture from Yorktown to Pound Ridge and I had a good experience. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them.

Save yourself the grief from hiring a "man with van". These guys are the real deal. They're punctual, careful and get the job done right for a reasonable price.
