We recently had a Navy move and Nilson moving and storage was assigned to us. Upon arrival at our new location, we were informed there was chemical damage to our furniture. I had set aside a box of cleaning and hazardous materials for my husband to put in the uhaul (open box clearly displaying 20 different bottles). The packers were a few hours late the morning of and were in a hurry to get things done. Both chest of drawers for our bed set along with a mirror to a dresser, our computer desk, and a painting have sever chemical damage. A 55inch tv is cracked and an entire wardrobe box also had chemicals soak through. While we were clearly upset, the navy was/is currently helping us get compensated for it. My anger (and reason for this review) comes from someone at the company telling our navy move claims rep that they kept having to unpack the box of chemicals because I kept repacking it to be moved. This is an absolute lie as I wanted the box moved with us so I could clean the home when we got there. They had packaged the box just like everything else. Our claims rep told us it is some of the most damage she has seen on a move. Once again, I was over the damage. We will be "compensated" and we are aware things happen. My anger comes from the lack of accountability from their office. Update in response to companies response: I am fully aware of what items can and can't be shipped through moving companies as this was not my first move That is why every chemical in the house was set aside in a clear, open box and why my husband and I rented a uhaul (out of pocket) for our 3,000 mile journey. I had no need to sneak and "repack" the materials with your shipment. I believe your own employees would be a better recipients of that list of materials you arent able to move.
Excellent experience with packing, long distance move and unpacking and set-up. Have used Mayflower before with excellent results. Driver was very respectful and helpful. Crews at origination and destination with intermediate stop for storage were very capable, careful, friendly and accommodating. Should we move another time, we would definitely contract with Mayflower. Jake B.
Excellent Movers. They were easy to work with and stay on top of making sure our furniture arrived in Oklahoma on time. Thanks.
Mayflower/Nilson and Co. did a great job. This was my first professional move and it was cross country as well. My wife and I packed everything ourselves, she being the more meticulous. Packing is AT LEAST half of what prevents damage to your possessions, but self-packing is by far how you save the most money on a professional move. Loading went smoothly and efficiently, the crew carefully wrapped each piece in moving blankets secured with elastic cords or shrink wrap, no damage to walls or doors moving large furniture pieces and appliances, including a large refrigerator and washing machine down 14 stairs of an elevated house. Unloading in Idaho was also smooth and efficient. Very minimal damage to possessions including some dented cardboard boxes but contents were fine. No fragile items broken (bubble wrap - the greatest invention for moving), only one small piece of trim on a chest was damaged which, given the size of the move and the distance I felt, was more than acceptable. I have always moved myself in the past and always with far more damage. When you need pros, you need pros. Jeremiah Johnson, the driver was great and Theresa Barton, the move coordinator, was readily available before, during and after the move; excellent communication. Highly recommended.
Very professional, very knowledgeable, very dependable. I would use them again in heartbeat. They were very careful in transporting and unpacking my belongings, taking great care not to damage the floors or walls upon delivery and furniture placement. Great company to use if you are moving/relocating.
