Pickens-Kane Moving and Storage, Bloomingdale IL

We used "Pickens Kane" for a move from Chicago to Connecticut, and it was a total disaster. First off, once you pay you'll never be able to get in touch with them. They are out of it. Completely. Their job is to collect the money. In the day if the move, an Allied Van truck pulled in without the necessary number of movers. Understaffed, the loading took considerably longer and the allotted move out time was exceeded by quite a bit. I could have saved myself $1000 by just going through Allied. As it turned out, we were the very last ones on the route and lived in a hotel for two weeks waiting for our things. When the truck finally arrived, again they were way understaffed, by temporary help with no experience, which broke several expensive standing lamps. Because everything was happening so quickly, we didn't realize the breakage until a week later. Totally awful experience.

I recently moved my brother from Chicago to Ohio. Allied Pickens Kane were outstanding in their service. From start to finish. During the quoting phase Jennifer displayed a high level of professionalism and empathy. The moving crew led by Paul were friendly, polite and the fastest and safest packers I have ever met. They did not complain about the 3rd floor apartment move and finished the job in record time. Paul also drove the truck to Ohio and the offload went brilliantly. Many thanks Pickens Kane. Earlier this month, our family completed a move from Chicago to Melbourne, Australia. Needless to say, it was an unbelievably exciting and tremendously stressful time for us. We chose Pickens-Kane mostly for their follow-up after my initial call -- we just felt a sense of confidence and comfort that the other providers didn't give us. We were a little concerned that we might not get the same service from the larger Allied network once things left Chicago, so we considered other global companies, but Pickens-Kane still seemed to rise above the others. It was a gut thing, but it wound up being exactly what we needed. What could have been a source of incredible stress went remarkably smoothly. Our things were packed in December, went on a truck, a train, a ship to Taiwan, another ship to Melbourne, got unpacked for Australian customs and quarantine, repacked on a truck and delivered to our new place in about 2 months door-to-door (which is impressive). NOT ONE single thing was broken. They didn't spill a Lego. I'm offering this review because, frankly, that shocked the heck out of me. Bottom line, the service was great. All of our calls and emails were answered immediately. Everything happened right on time. The crews were polite, capable and respectful (and really important for me, they kept things light on the packing and moving days -- some of the most anxiety-inducing days of my life). With so much of our lives in upheaval, not having to worry about our stuff was a gift.
