Review:

As someone who had a difficult experience in the past, I was worried about hiring this company, in part because the price was so reasonable. Israel & Al were efficient, warm, friendly. They wrapped my artwork and furniture, all heirlooms, as if it was their own grandmother's. I expect the delivery in NY will be equally wonderful. Highly recommend. My furniture and other belongings were finally delivered yesterday. 22 days from NC to the Bronx. The quote was almost exactly what I was told at the beginning, however, an additional $210 was charged on-site and had to be in cash. This was a huge inconvenience, but nothing was damaged or missing. For the money, it's probably as good as you can get. A local moving company gave me an estimate that was 2.5 times as much.

Please beware of this company and pay close attention to the 1-star reviews listed - they are exactly right. Here is what is going on. Their sales people are great -- they are very professional and kind and follow up with you a lot. But, they give you a "low-ball" estimate. Then, they load up the truck and demand almost double the original estimate or threaten to keep your items -- for us, that was an extra $6000+! Then, they fail to deliver part of the shipment in a timely manner, if at all. And, they cause tons of damage by carelessness and mistreatment (see pictures). When our items were delivered, nearly $15,000 worth of belongings (and counting - we're not done going through it all yet) are missing or damaged. We were told that some of our items were left in storage and will be delivered later -- but that was 3 weeks ago with no updates since. Progressive Relocation claims that there wasn't enough room on the truck so they had to deliver in two shipments. But, there was another customer's belongings on our truck when it arrived or it would have fit! We have reached out to Progressive Relocation several times for an update as well as information to start filing an insurance claim for all of the missing and damaged items. They have yet to provide either. Please heed our warnings and those of the other truthful reviewers and do not ever, ever think of hiring them. Moving is stressful enough without these types of villains preying on the vulnerable.

When I got the first call from Tony at Progressive I was very impressed. He was polite and seemed very anxious to please. Once he got the deal, it was a different story. His estimate on the space needed was so far under the actual. At the time of pick-up, the movers asked for $800 more. We could only get $300 at the time, as they said they needed cash. We were told that we could make up the difference at delivery. We agreed thinking this would give us time to get to the bottom of this. Two days later, we received a call and an email stating that if we didn't pay the extra $500 our delivery would be delayed indefinitely!!! What a scam!! How or why they have so many great reviews is beyond me! After a phone call to tthe owner, and threats to contact several different agencies, we finally got a reduction in the price. The delivery was first scheduled with almost no notice. We told them that was impossible, we didn't have the keys yet to the apartment. A new date was agreed upon. The movers showed up over 2 hours late. Several pieces of furniture were damaged, or destroyed. Boxes were torn up and missing. This has been such a nightmare. I would tell anyone who was thinking of using this company to run. This appears to be an ongoing scam. As the saying goes "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."
