BUT we found out today the Greensboro location is closing tomorrow 01/17/20! That is way too bad as the people were great to work with start to end. SAD!
We booked a move a MONTH in advance being very specific on the EXACT date we needed because we were flying half way across the country to help a mentally challenged family member with this move. My husband dealt with Bill, the sales manager and had an email that we were confirmed since it was for a Saturday in August (I understand that it's the busiest move day of the week in probably the busiest month) but we never heard from the moving coordinator - didn't even know some girl in the office should have called us before the day of. We had no contact with anyone but Bill so we fly in to NC late on Friday night and proceed to call them Saturday morning to find out what time they were coming. It was a small, local move - probably a 2-hour job. We made several phone calls, left messages, etc. No one was answering the phone in the office - on a Saturday morning in the busiest month?? We finally got a hold of Bill - he was out doing an estimate an hour away and said he didn't know what happened but he would try to find out. You want to know what happened? NOTHING happened!! No One called us (after Larry spoke to Bill 2-3 times), we got no reply to our emails or voicemails either. Y'all totally blew us off! We had ONE day to make this move happen since we had a flight home the next day. About 1 pm, I gave up and started calling other movers. After a few calls, I got a great guy who despite having a full schedule that day, once he heard our story, he talked to his moving crew and they agreed to help us out. Of course, we had to wait until their other scheduled jobs were done which totally stressed out my disabled brother-in-law because his move did not happen until 9:30 PM Saturday night because Ray Moving and Storage totally blew us off. Well, actually we did get a message Saturday night that they would be in touch with us the next day about our move but, of course, they never did. We heard NOTHING. No excuses, no apology, nothing! Thank goodness this other mover came through and despite moving until almost midnight, we got it done and flew home the next day getting at least that accomplished despite the stress on our family.
Estimate matched actual cost. Didn’t get 5 stars due to not being told I needed to pay cash or by certified check. They would not unload until the bank opened and I was able to get a certified check.
We received a quote from Bryce who came highly recommended. He was personable and thorough in his inspection and said he would quote on the high end so there would be no surprises. The team contracted consisted of two packers and three movers The packing team arrived at the same time as the movers and started at 10am. The packing team finished at noon and although the packing was not organized (one shoe in a different box than the other, etc.) was done well. The move team consisted of one fairly young man and one near retirement and one clearly beyond retirement age. I specifically asked that they not include an elderly mover as part of the actual move team as he was unable to help the other two and the move took much longer than had we had three physically able movers. The truck sent was not a flatbed large enough to hand our goods, and I trust Bryce's assessment of the type of truck needed for the volume of goods; however, the move team were not able to pack all the goods and my husband was forced to both help with the move and transport quite a bit of the goods unexpectedly in four separate trips. I specifically asked if the move team would dismantle and reassemble the beds. I was advised that they would. They did not bring proper tools for the job and did not reassemble the beds at the delivery home. They put the wrong pieces together to the extent they did any assembly and left the screws, slats and other pieces under the beds and out of sight so it appeared they were assembled. There is minor damage to the hardwood floors in the new home and this is due to carelessness as they did place mats on the floors. I will say that the team was very friendly and helpful, asking lots of questions throughout the process, but not following the instruction given. As they are the professionals we left the decisions to them. I reached out to Bryce to follow up twice and received an initial response that they would be out to assess the floor damage but no such contact occurred, nor have I heard from Ray Moving (an affiliate of Mayflower ) or Mayflower regarding this issue. We were charged $300 more than the quote! I will not be using Mayflower again.
They were absolutely incredible. They helped my son, who was by himself, pack up his home. They arrived when they said they would...and on the way to his new home in Massachusetts they kept him abreast of when they would be arriving. They told us what the fee would be....and it never changed as some companies are known to do. Everything was delivered in perfect condition. They were extremely professional and my sons move from No Carolina to Mass was painless. One issue..tho...we were not that happy with the car transport company they recommended..but think bec they were so on the ball..it made the car company pale by comparison. Thank you Rays!
