This was my first military HHG move and I thought the moving team who moved my items were very professional and did a good job. All my glass items were carefully wrapped and care was taken not to scratch or dent my furniture. Overall I was very happy with the job of the River City Movers.
Absolutely the worst moving experience I've ever had. The movers came in smelling of alcohol as if they were drinking the night before. They went through all our stuff and just dumped everything into a box, when we asked where are our phone chargers the Mover gave us an attitude and had to rip through at least three boxes to find them. On the first day of packing they knew we had a big screen TV supported by a wall mount they failed to tell us that it was our responsibility to remove the wall mount from the wall. They packed up all my tools and pretty much said find a way to do it on your own. Their manager Larry is the most unprofessional incompetent manager I have ever seen in any company. Instead of trying to help rectify the problem he said sorry I cannot do nothing for you it's company policy you can figure it out on your own. If you are assigned this moving company request another one ASAP. The movers were also speaking amongst each other about smoking weed and drinking alcohol and how they did not make enough in this company so they really didn't care about their job and I'll tell you what it sure does show. Run far away from this company. They take our soldiers for granted they are located right next to a military base and they and have no pride in what they do, typical lowest bidder contract job. On top of it all there movers sat on our couch used our bathroom multiple times with no shame! No service member should or civilian should be subject to their unprofessionalism!
This company was selected for us by the transportation department of the US Army in Ft. Campbell. The day they arrived to pack our things, it was problem after problem from the get go. I can't be in two places at once to monitor the packing, so I chose one room. The packer took boxes of things, opened the boxes and dumped them into his brown moving box. Not giving any consideration to the order that things were in. He labeled everything MASTER BEDROOM, and he wasn't even in the master bedroom. He was in the office, but it didn't matter. So boxes of papers and books, were still labeled MBR CLOTHES. Whoever packed up my kitchen, didn't take the time to individually wrap my china plates as a result, I have broken plates, chipped cups, and broken glasses. My kitchen knives were packed with my PRINTER!! Who does that?? My tv stand was broken. My shelves were bent in half, and the doors broken. My high school yearbook and other papers were packed in the book labeled BATHROOM. When I tried to talk to the owner about the damage that had been done and the mislabeling, he asked me what do you want me to do about it? Well as the owner, an apology!! But then, maybe assure me that you are going to talk to the packers, and ensure that this doesn't happen again. Instead I was told that the reason the movers spoke to my husband instead of me, is because he is the soldier with the orders. WHAT!! Yes he may be the soldier, but the SPOUSE runs the house!! Don't confuse his rank with my authority, is a saying among wives. It means you talk to the person who runs the everyday household business. RUN far away from this moving company!! If assigned this company, request a different one!! Claim has been filed and pending approval.
