I waited several months to write this review as I was giving this company time to rectify a situation. I used this moving company back in June and was given a quote of $515 to move my items from my apartment to a storage facility that was literally 5 minutes away. I had everything packed up, bubble wrapped, disabled with the exception of 1 mirror. They charged me $267 to literally bubble wrap and shrink wrap a mirror that I could've done myself. In the end, my bill came up to $800 so don't listen to their "quotes" because it is not what you will be paying. That's not the reason for my 1 star it is due to the lack of customer service. The movers broke my dresser and told me to "just glue it back together". I told them that I will not do that and to take it away as it is now junk. Alex told me that he put in the claim. I followed up with him in July, he seemed to not know what I was talking about (meaning he probably didn't put in the claim). I followed up in August and September and was told a check was mailed to me. It is now November and I never received a check for my damaged belongings. I called to follow up with Alex once again, and asked for the insurance company's name and claim number so that I can call myself and of course, no response from Alex. I would not recommend using this company.
These guys were very good. Although they arrived late, due to wet roads and traffic; they kept me posted every step of the way. They loaded all of my stuff quickly with care. They were very nice. I am a senior citizen in a wheelchair. They accommodated me like I was family. Their rates were reasonable and fair. I'd recommend Tiger Movers to my friends and would use them again if I ever need a moving company....they gave me 5 star service. I would like to thank them.
I wish I could give 0 stars. If you were lucky and had a pleasant experience, that's great but if you're looking to know if you should hire this company, please read my review first because you might not be so lucky. I started looking for quotes for a 1 bedroom apartment move from the 2nd floor. Most quotes came in around $900-$1000 dollars. Tiger came in at $575 for 3 men for 4 hours; this included shipping materials and additional charges to handle 2 TVs and a glass entertainment center. At the end of the day; I moved the TVs and glass entertainment centers myself to save myself $150 so the quote should have been reduced to $425. My final bill was $908. That's a huge discrepancy, more than double the initial quote! Apparently, it is a common fraudulent practice to quote low during the estimate and then tack on hidden fees and charges once they have your belongings and you have no other options. They added on a $150 charge for my apartment being on the 2nd floor even though it was clearly stated in the initial RFQ and the estimate I received clearly stated their estimate is accurate to the information that I provided. My appointment was at 9:00 am. The moving company showed up at 9:45 am; did not start moving until 9:55 am. I had also had family, friends and a pick-up truck helping us move (8 people in total initially, including the 3 hired movers) and we had most of the boxes out of the apartment and lined up on the sidewalk by the time the truck even arrived. I noticed immediately the movers were not working as hard as my friends and family and even seemed to moving slowly to pad the run time. There was a lot of down time, several noted and documented instances of cell phone use while working, and time spent just waiting. NOT TO MENTION THEY WERE PLAYING CATCH!!! Twice, I had to ask about getting additional hands to wrap furniture for loading because the place was empty of boxes and the only thing remaining was the furniture that they refused to move until it was wrapped. I even asked if I could help and they told me I couldn't since I was not trained to do so. I even have photos of the movers throwing around a football in my parking lot!!! I spoke to Alex, the manager in charge of the workers about my complaints to which he said he would give me a $40 discount on the time charged. I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS MONEY BACK. To add injury to insult, they also damaged my townhouse in the move. There's a chunk of my ceiling missing and they have not contacted me to do anything about it. I have reached out several times since my move on Sunday, 10/13 and did not hear back from anyone. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I am filing complaints with the DoT, BBB, AMA, FMCSA, anyone who will help my get my money back from these crooks and hold them accountable for the damage they did to my property.
