I spent many hours researching for moving companies for moving before deciding which one to use. We finally decided Trans Van Lines and were very delighted with our decision. These movers were excellent. They, very carefully and very quickly packed up our boxes and furniture pieces. Everything was unharmed. And the moving quotes and customer service was also satisfactory. I will recommend these movers to anyone.
Trans Van Lines is the worst moving company on the planet; do yourself a favor and read below (I will try to keep it as brief as possible) and DO NOT use this company. In my opinion they are criminals! It all started with a call with Amanda to get a quote to move me from Fort Lauderdale to Cincinnati. Rather than quote what I had over the phone, I had Amanda send someone physically to my house to eliminate any “surprises”. After walking them through everything I wanted to move, mind you in person, I received a quote for $3,760. I booked the company and schedule my move for a month down the road. When the moving day came, six (6) movers came to my house and packed everything I owned onto their truck. I was dealing with David, who was moving my items, and Diego was the guy at the office. After packing everything, and NOT saying a word, Diego gets on the phone and tells me I owe over $9,000!!!!! They literally have you “over the barrel” because they threaten that you either pay, or spend the whole day unpacking everything they just did. And then at that point, they had my $3,760 in a cashiers check. I was able to negotiate $7,000 which is almost double what I was quoted in PERSON from Trans Van Lines. Mind you, I had lower quotes than the $3,760 that were quoted over the telephone but felt the in person walk through would solve any issues. Fast-forward a week to Cincinnati. The truck and 2 movers get to town, and claim they cannot get down the street because there was a small tree limb blocking the turn. Mind you, the driver did not even bother to try. They then proceeded to charge me an additional $900 otherwise they would hold my items hostage. I finally agreed, and waited 5 HOURS for them to even put one thing into my house. Once they did, myself and my father ended up having to do a lot of the carrying in unwrapping of the stuff as these two were exhausted and were so slow. It took 26 hours from when they arrived to my house in Cincinnati for them to unpack my things. They lost items, broke several pieces. Tt was a mess, and even after everything I had been through, Mona, and the rest of the office staff were absolutely despicable to work and speak to. They literally did not care and are make several threats. The drivers asked me to come one the truck to see if I could identify any of my items. It was no wonder they had items lost and broken…. There was boxes and furniture everywhere!!!! Smashed boxes, broken items, people’s things that they threw outside of the truck in the rain. I have pictures of it all! See below. I truly feel sorry for these people who were to receive their items next. The Trans Van Lines experience was the worst I have ever had with any company, in any industry and that comes with experience! They extort their customers once they low ball the price and then hold them hostage once everything is loaded on the truck. The driver said this was his first load with this company and all 5 families were dealing with the same issue. This company should be ashamed of how they operate. DO NOT USE Trans Van Lines..
I feel very let down with this service... To start with I must commend the sales staff for their ability to eloquently package and offer customer service. Unfortunately, the service stops at the moment of pick-up. From misquoting me by more than 50% of what the driver picking my items up “determined” was the value that I owed to over $350 worth of upcharges for stairs, even though I very clearly stated the number of flights the movers must carry my items at time of pickup. Next, there is a “system” so they say, that offered me 30 days of free storage(to which I was grateful for). However, I received a phone call 3 days after pickup stating that my items had been inadvertently loaded onto a truck and that they would give me a $150 discount. I obliged as it was a fair offer. When the driver(with no crew) arrived here in Houston, traveling from Chicago; he stated he was waiting for his CRAIGSLiST laborers to show up to help move the heavy items. (They never showed). I had to help him move my heavy items even though this is a “full service” moving company which had received over $2500 for a small 1 bedroom apartment. The driver and I went back a forth for more than 45 minutes over the fact that he did not have knowledge of the discount offered to me for the early shipping as well as the fact he was charging me an extra 150$ for stairs(also included on the quote but not included on Bill of lading and also not allowed to be forgiven). 10 minutes after He left, I realized that my foot board of my bed had been forgotten and called the dispatch. Rather than dispatch calling the driver, I was told to call back on Monday. It has been four days and no one has offered me help besides the fact of saying that I should not have signed for it if it wasn’t there. I do agree that I should have been more attentive when signing a contract but I frankly wanted the gentlemen out of my house after he had been rude at the beginning and was lacking the labor elp to move a one bedroom apartment in less than three hours. Unless their customer service standards change, I strongly urge everyone to shop around. I say this as someone who works in the logistics industry... disappointed.
