BEWARE! World Wide Movers; Mayflower; the whole corporation of moving companies... INSPECTORS: OPEN THE DOORS OF CLOSETS & CABINETS & ACTUALLY LOOK IN THE CLOSETS & CABINETS TO SEE IF EVERYTHING GOT PACKED! The PACKERS WERE AMAZING, very courteous, respectful, & efficient. I asked them to not pack the pantry & spice cabinet & they did just that. After everything was loaded up, Ron & an inspectors went through the house looking for DAMAGE only, not inspecting for items left unpacked. Stood in the doorway & looked around. I came home Thursday night to obvious pictures left in the closet, the ironing board, & the WHOLE ENTRY CLOSET FULL OF COATS & OUR TABLE LEAVES! A WHOLE CLOSET!! I called & emailed the customer the service rep. immediately Thursday night & asked someone to come back &.pack these things up. Samantha's response in email "Got your voicemail, sorry that those items got missed. I did check the paperwork and the walk through check was signed…Very sorry for the inconvience" CLEARLY YOUR INSPECTORS ARE NOT TRAINED TO ASK ABOUT ITEMS OBVIOUSLY VISIBLE/LEFT OR OPEN DOORS/ CABINETS! My husband.just thought everything was packed.. Thankfully we are shipping our cars ( & driving the 5th wheel down). the move is stressful enough but to have such a cavalier answer..
My contract to move to Anchorage was with the Mayflower Company and it covered the entire shipping to my home. I did not know that Mayflower uses subcontractors. When I moved to Anchorage, I was told to contact World Wide Movers. My belongings probably arrived in Anchorage before I arrived. Worldwide Movers refused to deliver my items after my repeated requests by telephone. World Wide Movers then told me that I would have to pay extra money to get my things delivered from their warehouse to my apartment. In the meantime, they simply held onto my belongings. I consider that theft and a break of contract. I felt my only option was to hire a lawyer, but I made one last phone call to the company--this at least a month after my move. As I stood in my office making the phone call, I saw through my office window that I was speaking to a World Wide Movers representative on his cellphone, who saw me looking at him. World Wide Movers had been contracted by my new employer to move our organization (which was a big job for them). When that person realized that I worked for one of their big jobs, he then said "We'll get you moved at 4:00 pm today." At 4:00 o'clock a crew was out at my apartment delivering my items. I wonder if I would have had to hire a lawyer had there not been that coincidence. I still think the company was jerking me.
I am very pleased with the service we received when we relocated from Anchorage, AK to Asheville, NC. The two men who packed up our house were careful and efficient. When we unpacked, not a thing was broken!! It was great working with Samantha Renfrew from World Wide Movers. Karen and Andy Florian
