This company is a disaster. I ordered a container to be delivered today. I received an email 3 days ago saying the container would be delivered “in a couple days”. Day of expected delivery rolls around and it’s still not delivered. Multiple calls to customer service and the guy said the facility was not answering his calls. I call back and speak with a supervisor who told me the facility does not have the storage container for me. Fantastic. I’m supposed to be out of my house in 36 hours and now I’m being told they’ll call me back to see what they can do.

I’m not sure why I was able to book this container if they have been out of them “for weeks” as I was told. I’m not sure why I received an email saying it was all set to be delivered. I’m not sure why no one called me to tell me it can’t be delivered. And I’m not sure why I have to be the one tracking this company down to figure out where the container is.

If you’re looking into this company…do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress.

Edit: I contacted Northside Self Storage in Meriden. They were beyond helpful. Even though they couldn’t accommodate my exact needs on such short notice, the woman was making phone calls to other places to try and get me help. Family owned and operated. Definitely call them for storage needs.

I ended up getting a container from UNITS in Plainville. Without hesitation, they said they can and will deliver tomorrow. Plus, they are way cheaper than Pack Rat.

Would never do business with this company again. We booked a delivery for a unit that never showed up. Come to find out after calling 1800packrat several times, we were told our unit was on hold which corporate couldn’t tell us why. After we spoke with 4 different representatives they finally told us this facility doesn’t have ANY UNITS!!!!!!! Why the hell are you able to book a specific unit, get confirmation emails saying your unit will be delivered in a couple days, then it doesn’t show up AND NO ONE CONTACTS YOU ABOUT IT???? We have hired movers coming and have to be moved out in 2 days, it’s a Friday afternoon so what the hell are we supposed to do. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!!!! How do you stay in business with this type of poor management.

Everything went exceedingly well for our West Coast to East Coast move! Scheduling, delivery, pickup and all at much less the cost of the main competition(PODS). I’ve already recommended PackRat to others and will definitely use them again.

DO NOT USE THE NEW HAVEN/MIDDLETOWN LOCATION!!!

We were forced to use this location because it is the only one that will serve the Westchester county area of NY as well as coastal CT! Not sure why there isn't a franchise in New York City or even Long Island that could service a lot quicker than having to deal with this location!

The only positive I can give is for the delivery of the original container and the ability of the driver to get it in our gates without damage. All of that went well.

Where they lost us forever as a customer is the wait for a pickup of the empty container when we were done. This is when they are telling new customers and people that need containers that they don't have any and yet I have one I can't get rid of from my yard and driveway!

We waited over a MONTH to have the container removed from my property and they lie and say they'll call or 'swing' by (they don't..it's an hour and a half away). We have a moving truck coming in 2 days and their unit is STILL blocking my driveway!

The Pack Rat HQ is in NC and promises it will be removed and then New Haven/Middletown franchise ignores their orders and does nothing!!

The HQ told me they are having a lot of complaints against this particular franchise location, and they are trying to work with the owner to be retrained and stop ruining the Pack Rat reputation. (I have used PR multiple times in NC and they are SO much better and things are run perfectly).

We had to report this container as abandoned property and trespass to local authorities and have lawyers ready to file charges. It was our only option as they won't answer their phones.

I have notified them everywhere if not picked up in one more day, it is abandoned property and I will have a metal scrap company come tow it off before the moving truck comes.

This franchise should absolutely be SHUT DOWN!!! It is an embarrassment to the NC HQ and their facility (which is run quite well and responds timely).

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PACK RAT LOCATION. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
