Review:

We scheduled with packrat for a long distance move. We were told that it would take 7 days and scheduled pickup 10 days out. Driving 6 hours a day this move would only take 4 days. The container drop off went really smooth, the morning it was to be picked up the called and cancelled due to 'call offs', we asked if this would delay our delivery and were told no. Two days later they cancelled again due to 'truck broken down', again we asked if this would delay our delivery and were told no. They also told us we would be first to pick up the following day. The next day we called when we hadn't been contacted that morning and they said that they were scheduled to pick up still. They called at 6:30pm and asked if they could pick up in the morning as they were over an hour away, again they stated that picking up that night or next morning would not make difference in delivery so we allowed them to delay again. The following morning after not hearing from them and being told AGAIN that we were first to be picked up, I called and was told pick up between 8:45 and 12:45 (it was after 9 already), they stated that would call prior to pick up. They arrived around 11am, 4 days after the original pick up date and did not call that they were on their way as they had stated they would. Today, we were told that our our container would be delayed 3 days. We were asked to quantify this inconvenience, if that was something that would be possible. The cost of changing flights, hotels, hiring movers etc does not seem quantifiable. We were then told they cannot offer us any compensation if they'd already given us the best route possible. After discussing how that is unreasonable due today great inconvenience they've given us they offered us $150 off. Again we stated that this does not cover any of the inconveniences that they have caused us and that this number just seems arbitrary when they then countered back and said well the best we can do is $300 a day. Wait until then that this is very on par with their company as we have been told lies after lies. The guy then stated that the reason for the $300 number was because they could only offer $100 a day of delay. This does not even cover a hotel for the night etc. Does cross country move for us is temporary and have already expressed that we will not be using them any further and cannot recommend them to anyone due to they're dishonesty and our experience with this company. We will without a doubt be using their competitor in the future. Save yourself the headache now and do not use pack rat for your next move.

Update: After the unit was picked up on Wednesday, and we were told they would try to expedite shipping. I contacted customer service on Monday to follow up on the review. The unit had not left its original location but was expected to leave that evening with the estimated arrival still being 3 days late. Customer service stated they couldn't do anything more until they had confirmation that it was delivered but transferred me over to dispatch to answer my questions. The gentleman I spoke to was very understanding, he informed me that they no longer offer expedited shipping (at a cost) so whoever told us that was wrong. He offered to call us on Wednesday, our initial arrival date to update us. We arrived to our moving destination that Wednesday and I still hadn't received a phone call yet so I called myself. Our unit was at our destination but was still scheduled to arrive in 3 more days. I was transferred to a supervisor who was able to get our unit delivered the next day (ultimately one day late). She mentioned that she would waive the next day delivery fee, like I should have expected to pay it in the first place.

All in all it worked out but isn't worth the headache. Our friends used Pods for their move at the same time as us and had 0 issues. So that's who we'll be going with next time.

Review:

On April 18, our two containers were picked up in CA and taken to a local facility. It is now April 29 and they haven’t moved. Estimated delivery to our new home was May 3. We paid about $9000 up front and have gotten almost no communication from these people. Multiple people in dispatch have told me they would get back to me and nothing. I realize they are a large company, but nothing seems right here. By end of day today, I am filing a police report for stolen items and disputing this charge with the bank. This is unreal!

Review:

Mostly good experiences all around. Moved from Florida to Ohio.
Pack-Rat delivered and picked up container on scheduled dates. (If you need to schedule outside packers make sure you pay the extra for specific times and dates). Only a couple of glitches: on the day of pick-up, I was advised the ordered 8ft container wasn't available, so agreed to a 16ft one at no extra charge. This caused belongings to roll around in the unit and there was some damage to some very old kitchen chairs. Not their fault, though. Additionally, I had negotiated an all inclusive rate to match another carrier's quote but a fuel surcharge was included anyway and haven't succeeded in getting a refund. But, all in all, Pack-Rat was great and I would definitely use them again.

Review:

got 1 start because the is no 0. Talk to them numerous time had a pick up set up never showed up got a hold of someone picked up a week later and also charge me for another month been asking for itemized bill refuse to send it , they been charging me for insurance on the container never know about it over charging me for the rent over quoted price. Container got picked up yesterday driver smash into container and turf my lawn by making too tight of a turn . Company is horrible one day i was on hold for three hours. do not deal with them
