The reason for my 3-star rating is because of how hard they make it to speak to someone. I have had two transactions in the past 60 days.
First order when I DID use Packrat for my daughter's move, we had to change a date. The online site would not allow the change. I had to call and I waited over a half hour to speak to someone but had to drop for work meeting. I called again and also a very long hold time. I will say that the service itself, not including the disappointing customer service phone line, was economical and showed up on time.
Second time I planned to use Packrat, but later changed to a different provider. You're unable to cancel an order online, so another call was required. I had to speak to 3 different people to cancel the order, each with a hold queue and total time 25 min just to cancel an order. The third and final person was the 'loyalty agent' who was apparently trained to keep pitching until he got the third 'no'.
No matter how great the service, if you need to talk to an agent, which seems to be the norm, you will come away frustrated and annoyed.
I have had a phenomenal experience using 1800packrat. Moved from Texas to Illinois. They took care of us and made this move so easy! I never had any problems getting in contact with them over the phone and they answered all of my questions in a very professional manner. Moving is hard and stressful for everyone (especially out of state) but this company made our move so easy. Thanks!
The booking process and pick up from out of state (AZ) was perfect once my container got to the state where I’m residing now (IL) things weren’t good when I got to the location in Bartlett IL they first said my container never made it. Once they found my container here is what I saw when I opened my container. It appears my container was tossed around . Everything was just everywhere and that isn’t how I packed it up in AZ. I went to pick up somethings that couldn’t fit in my car and so far computer monitor screen cracked . I’m just disappointed at this point, I was charged extra for damage insurance when I thought that was included in the price I was charged for storage when one month was supposed to be free since my cost to move was 2,600. I’m not sure who is adding charges but when I call I’m on hold for an extremely long time and have not been able to contact anyone.
I’m extremely frustrated with the service from Pack Rat. My container was supposed to be picked up a day ago, and it’s still sitting at my old property. The driver called me again after 8 PM, only to inform me that he wouldn’t be able to pick it up yet again. It’s baffling that my container was placed last on the list today when it should have been a priority. I even called last week to emphasize the importance of having my container picked up on a specific date and paid extra to ensure it would be picked up at the specify date. Despite calling several times today, customer service assured me it would be picked up—but it never happened. This level of service is unacceptable. I won’t be using Pack Rat again and would strongly advise others to be careful. Learn from my mistake, schedule your pick up earlier than the date you had in mind.
