Review:

I had a great experience helping move a friend from San Diego to the Portland area.
The initial movers that came and packed the holding unit were magnificent! They arrived and went straight to work. They were both caring and friendly. Same goes with the group that delivered to the Portland address. Everything went extremely smooth. Would totally recommend using Pack Rat. Great group of workers. It was also very easy to initially set up the move over the phone. Everything was very thorough

our pod was supposed to be delivered to us Aug 18. pack rat did not call , email or even leave a voicemail. after all that was settled with a payment of over 5k we were told that the pod will be here Aug 30. today I get a call saying that it's still in California and we will be compensated. we have important documents in that pod and I need that pod to be delivered. I am not paying anything extra

Moved on time but charged me $1000 more than was agreed. I had zero changes to my contract and was at the anticipated weight. They supposedly offered a military discount for the PCS and were quoted less than PODS. My contract said $8700 for three containers but then I was charged $9700.

Customer service is good until you sign. Then just long wait times and minimal communication.

DO NOT RECOMMEND because of the price shadiness.

Not the best first experience so far. I booked with PACK-RAT for the first time yesterday and spoke with a very helpful representative. I was initially told that a portion of the charges would be charged on the day the pod is delivered to our current address, and the remainder would be charged on the day that the pod is delivered to our destination.

After speaking with a wildly unhelpful representative today regarding another issue, I was told that the remaining balance is actually charged on the day that the pod is picked up from our current address. I was on the phone for 30 minutes with this representative and got nothing accomplished. For about 25 minutes of this call she left me sitting there in silence until I asked to speak with a supervisor. I have no idea what she was doing this entire time but she was very un-communicative with me about what was going on. I had to keep asking her 'are you still there?' This was extremely annoying. The supervisor was able to clarify on my questions, but it does not change the fact that I wasted 30 minutes on the phone with a representative who had no idea what she was doing, and was told very different things about paying for our pod reservation. On top of this, I requested that I will need weight tickets and I am now being charged an additional $400 for these. Given this entire experience I am not happy about having to pay PACK-RAT even more money after all of this.

This entire experience has put a very bad taste in my mouth and I am convinced that a lot of their representatives have no idea what they are talking about, which is concerning when it comes to entrusting a company with your valuable household items.

EDITING TO ADD: Lowering my review down to 1-star because upon arrival of our pod, both of our TVs were broken and all of our furniture was scratched and dinged up. I immediately submitted a claim to them with all of the necessary receipts and documentation for the TVs since they were the most expensive items that were damaged, including photos and videos of the damage, only for them to respond that it was our fault that the TVs were broken because we did not pack them properly, and therefore they would not reimburse us. My only reponse to this is: why in the world would ANYONE purposefully mis-pack their $900 TVs? Case and point. ALL of our furniture was scratched or damaged upon arrival so I know 100% the TV damage was caused by poor handling of our pod. I will be steering all of our military friends away from using PACK-RAT for their PCS moves, which is a shame given the amount of business they could gain from a positive review. I am also going to make a post on all of the military groups in our area specifically naming PACK-RAT as a company to avoid and will absoluely be including every detail of our poor experience. Overall our experience was terrible. Things went wrong at every step and we ended up spending so much more than we would have if we used another company after all of the damages and extra charges that PACK-RAT caused for us.
