CANCELLED 2 DAYS BEFORE MOVE: I booked AA American Movers about 3 weeks before our moving date and confirmed several times with them that the date was open on my initial phone call. The office was very nice and seemed professional at this time. 2 days before my scheduled move I received a call from one of the movers asking me to move to a different day or time. When I informed the mover that it had to be the day I scheduled his response was that they are 'booked' that day. When I called the office I tried explaining that the mover sounded very uncertain about being able to accommodate our scheduled time. The office worker made this sound like it was typical for movers to call to try to shift appointments around a couple of days before the move and not to worry (which is also pretty unprofessional). My wife then called the movers later and got the same response. Only after insisting multiple times that we were worried was this issue looked into. At the end of the work day I received an email saying that our move was cancelled since they were 'booked.' I never received a call back from the office despite emails and voicemails asking to speak with someone. At least they promptly refunded me my deposit.
We had booked this moving company about 3-4 weeks prior to our move. They seemed to have excellent customer service and fair pricing. Less than 48 hours prior to our move they CANCELLED on us with no explanation. We had gotten a call in the morning initially from one of the movers who asked us if we could move another day instead, which we could not. We then contacted the main office and were told that they were likely just figuring out their schedule and that phone call was not a big deal. Of course, we were skeptical and continued to follow up all morning. After calling multiple times with no response, we finally got an email from them cancelling on us. No phone call, an email. We had to then scramble to find a moving company with about a day and a half notice. This was on a Wednesday afternoon and we were to move Friday morning. Save yourself the stress and do not use this company!!
Movers worked hard--moving is not easy for anyone
Do not work with this company - the customer service is atrocious.
The movers damaged my house and despite over four calls where I was promised, “someone will call me back,” I received no call. We are military service members, this is my roughly 18th move and I’ve never dealt with such unprofessional movers (at the customer service level).
The movers, themselves (most of them) worked hard but there was a member of the team who was unhelpful and nonproductive.
It is disappointing how much the damage in my house was handled so flippantly, the driver really didn’t care, just wanted me to sign the paperwork, and there’s no movement to assist in reconciling this issue.
They came on time, and they completed the moving in schedule. They packed, labed, and downloaded by rooms, and they reinstalled and asall the large furniture in each room. Amazing job!
