Let me start by saying I have history with this moving company. This would have been the 4th or 5th time I had hired them to move me. In the past I was given a quote, a date and time and they would show up and my move would go smoothly. However, this last time I had arranged time, date and had a quote and when the move team showed up they suddenly wanted to charge me $400 more than my original quote before they had even started. Before I knew it they were all in the truck and driving down the alley leaving me high and dry without a backup plan. I won’t use them again. This left me in a real jam. Then I received a survey asking me how they did with the move. Really? I’m still trying to reach them to get my deposit back.
Let me start by saying that the crew that Actually performed my move was absolutely great.
Unfortunately, aside from the crew, I did not have a great experience. A few days prior to my move date, I was given a window of 12:00 PM to 3:30 PM and was told that I would be given a 30 minute heads up when the crew was on their way.
3:30 came around and I hadn’t heard anything so I called their office, and was told that the crew was just leaving a move in Chicago and is coming straight to me And to expect them within the hour.
I let the hour pass with no call, finally after 90 minutes (~5:00 PM) I called the office again asking for an update… This time I was told that it’s another crew moving me And that they were just finishing up a move in Chicago and would be there within The next hour… And they told me that the foreman would give me a call to give me an eta.
A few minutes later, I received a call from the foreman who said they were just finishing up their move in Chicago And that it would take a little while to get to Naperville And that they would be there between 6:30 and 7 the latest.
They ultimately showed up at 7:30 And completed my very small local (~5 miles) Move in just about two hours.
I absolutely understand that things don’t always go according to plan and that schedules can go awry. What I find completely unacceptable is the fact that I had to call a number of times to get an update I wasted almost 8 hours of my day waiting and if I hadn’t, I sincerely doubt I’d have received any communication from their office.
Given that this was a small and very local move, I had a number of items that I was moving on my own with my vehicle Going back-and-forth between homes. Each time I was told it was going to be about an hour I needed to stay and wait because I could not get loaded there unloaded and back Within an hour.
I was all packed and ready by the morning of, and Only took off of work Because the move window that I was given fell during the workday.
While I do not work in the moving industry, I do have a client/customer facing job That I would likely be at risk of losing if I had failed to communicate a delay in a commitment that my company had made.
My entire day was wasted waiting, and while, my move did go well, Credit goes solely and entirely to the crew because despite showing up for hours past my given window, they were courteous, efficient, careful, and did a great job.
This is the second time I have used all my sons moving, and despite the fact that my first move went off without a hitch, I will not be using this company again.
Communication is not difficult. I will always understand conflicts, delays, things taking longer than planned, etc (because how often does everything go absolutely according to plan?!), but I do expect at the bare minimum that this is communicated.
Even the cable company communicates when they’re going to miss their window.
I didn’t have a pleasant experience with this company and would not recommend them.
Firstly, I called the day of my move to check in and confirm move time as I had not heard from them, they then proceeded to say they don’t have my phone number correctly added to their system therefore they were waiting for me to reach out. Even though they charged me a deposit a couple days prior and had my email. Due to this the movers arrived late.
Secondly, I advised the person whom I booked with that it was a sensitive move due to a stalker in my building and I requested the movers didn’t discuss my new location. Not to mention it at all, however the movers were not aware. Hence putting me in a negative situation when speaking about it.
Third, one of the guys was slow and wanted to chat more than move items. I told him finally that I have to go and I don’t have the funds for them to stick around slowly.
Finally, upon arrival to my new location they damaged my carpet with a muddy dolly. I was kind enough to say I would clean it as he said they didn’t have cleaning supplies (I actually didn’t think it was going to be cumbersome to remove) and even tipped them for their service. It took my 3 days to fully remove the stains, at which point I emailed, no response. Then I called, and spoke with Fernando who provided me their claims phone number. This was last week and I have yet to hear back from them.
March 2024, we had to move everything out of our 3rd floor condo for a remodel (no elevator). Craig (and I think the other young man was Treshawn) were beyond awesome. They were super polite, very prepared, and went above and beyond to make sure our property made it to the storage unit without any damage. And, they filled that unit like they were playing Tetris; they had some mad skillz! We have to move it all back in another month and we will request these two fabulous gentlemen again. Highly, highly recommended!!!
I highly recommend these movers...from Joliet, IL! Terrific job packing and loading. Worked with salesman, Paul, and the movers, Anthony and Robert. They handled my out of state move. Can't say enough good things about them. Knowledgeable, careful, hard workers!!!
