After enforcing (illegally) mandatory insurance they have not provided me with my policy number nor the insurance provider. The company did send me an email on August 29, 2023 with amendments to my contract. There were 3 amendments. None of them was for the mandatory insurance now required. I have the letter sent out by the company when ownership changed. That letter did offer insurance as an OPTION for the renters. I did not choose that option. They do apologize for any confusion I might have. I'm not the one confused.
Units are reasonably priced. However, when I returned to my unit several months after moving all my stuff into it to pull my big stuff out to move into a house. Several of my furniture items were ruined due to mold. I called them and they had me file an insurance claim. The first claim I filed they denied any compensation for my lost furniture well over a couple thousand dollars of lost furniture and told me I needed to get the manager to have someone inspect my unit to determine water getting in my unit. I am now a month into this claim when I speak to the manager they had no recollection of a claim being filed. They went a head and inspected the unit and sent their pictures and stuff to the insurance company. Over a month later I get told that the claim will not be compensated again due to no evidence of water above surface level in my unit. Now I am out thousands of dollars for furniture that got ruined in the unit. I have a picture that I submitted where you could see the mold on the concrete where water had been that got my furniture wet.
Failure to communicate with someone in person. Auto deductible storage fee for every 9th of month was deducted and 2months later I get a lein for nonpayment. Upon intial agreement there was a confusion on the operators end of understanding anything that I was telling her n couldn't understand my English. I paid a deposit refundable upon when I leave unit as I found it. My storage fee was qouted a cheaper amount than $109 month !!! Now I'm having to get transfer account statements to prove I'm up to date on fees. Wouldn't suggest a business to use if you can not see in office locally .
I asked for a refund of late fees which we incurred due to circumstances beyond our control. Self storage did not refund or even acknowledge our request. I will be looking to move our property to another facility.
