Sara was fantastic at answering my questions and working with me in obtaining a storage unit that meets my needs.
This place is top tier. Rick was absolutely lovely, the unit was perfect and I got a great deal!
Wow, Armor Storage all I can say is Thank You. My family has just recently moved into the area, and Rick was one of the first faces to welcome us to Washington. What’s so special is he was actually one of the first people we worked with when coordinating our move. Rick got the request from us for a unit online and walked us through every step until we had all of our i’s dotted and t’s crossed. His care and kindness for customers and kindness sure do go a long way these days and we couldn’t t be more thankful. We were scheduled to move in on a day when the facility was closed and Rick ensured we had everything we needed to get in without someone on sight. Due to a few travel delays we wound up arriving a bit later for our move in and got to meet him face to face. He walked with us to our unit and helped us guide our behemoth of a moving truck through the aisles of the facility. I can’t forget to mention Sara as well who was always so helpful with questions we had along the way, what a team y’all make. This storage facility is truly a step above the rest and we feel so secure knowing that we have such wonderful folks keeping a safe eye on our belongings.
I am a caregiver who was trying to help my disabled client get a storage unit. I called Armor Storage to get prices, the voicemail said I could get quotes online. We looked at the prices online and decided which one he wanted. It said only one left, so we loaded up some totes and went to get the unit. Rick Dale was working the counter and was friendly and helpful. We told him we looked up the prices on-line and he said he would honor the quoted price. He said there was only one unit left (in the size we wanted), and it was in the building the farthest from the office. He took us to see it, but suggested we drive to that building. When we got to the building he let us in and was looking for the unit and he said it is pretty much right in the middle of the building and in the future we could use which ever door we wanted. Everything looked good and we went back to the office and finished the paperwork signed the contract. I’m honestly not sure if the unit rental amount was ever said, because there were fees and insurance and a lock purchase, and a prorated amount. My client paid the total and setup auto pay. We then went back to the unit and put the totes in and we left. Everything went well and we had good feelings about the whole thing.
The next day I was reading through the lease agreement and noticed the price was higher than we saw online. I knew there was a monthly insurance fee on top, but the numbers still didn’t add up. I figured it was an honest mistake and decided that we would go by the office and get it straightened out the next day. When I got to the office I looked up the rate online and had it on my phone, it still said only one left. I went in and Rick was there again and I explained what happened. He said that some units are more because of being in prime locations “like being closer to the door”. I reminded him that he said this unit was not close to either door and the building was the farthest from the office. And he said he doesn’t know why units are priced the way they are but he has no control over the prices. I reminded him he said they would honor the online price. He said they didn’t have any left at that price. I asked why the website said they did? He said well you need to “read the fine print”. He actually said that. Then he showed me on my phone where it said options starting at X dollars. I said fine, we don’t need any other options just give us the one that the website says is left. He kept saying it says starting at, that doesn’t mean we have any at that price. We went round and round for awhile. I finally said so you are saying it is false advertising and a bait and switch, good to know. He didn’t have a response.
I went out and talked to my client. Armor Storage was asking for an additional $23.00 per month ($276.00 per year), and the plan was for this to be a long term rental. That is a lot of money for someone trying to live on disability. So we agreed that it was not acceptable. I knew that the contract required a notice to vacate, so I decided to ask if we vacated that day, would they still charge for a month. I honestly expected and hoped they would think keeping a client was more important and offer us the quoted rate. Especially if this was an honest misunderstanding. Instead he agreed to refund all the money. Which really makes me think it was intentionally a dishonest business practice. And he kept saying I should have read the fine print and the contract, I said I thought I was dealing with an honest company but apparently not. He also repeatedly kept saying “options starting at” doesn’t mean they actually have any at that price. In reality saying starting at does mean you have to have at least one at that price. We emptied the unit and left.
For the sake of full disclosure, this all happened a couple of weeks ago, but I needed to calm down before posting this review. And they did refund the full amount that evening.
The Manager called me back! Not once, but twice. He didn't let me fall through the cracks and that felt good. Clearly, this storage facility values its customers.
Even better, the excellent customer service has been continuous from day one.
