This is a horrible company! They quoted me 1200.00 and got to my home and said the price was 1600.00 And of course you are scheduled to move and have no choice but to pay it. Horrible! Please do not use this company.

By mindful of the fact that people usually only comment when something goes bad. If it was a good experience not everyone would comment saying it was such (only a small few).

I don't even want to give ANY Stars! Don't bother with this company unless you plan on making a firm commitment to using them without getting an estimate first! What kind of business does not want to come out to give you an estimate unless they know you'll hire them first or at least get a strong commitment. I'm so sorry that NJ is so far away from Brooklyn!

What's the point of this service if they aren't going to keep track of your items, if they aren't going to claim responsibility of them when they lose them, and if they are going to damage the items they do manage to move from one location to another?

Do yourself a favor, get a load-it-yourself moving company like Old Dominion, and hire people to load or unload if needed, but skip Atlas. Not only did they lose multiple items of ours, including our BED, but the rest of our furniture came damaged. We also received boxes that did not belong to us — really instills confidence in the organization and capability of Atlas as a moving service, huh. (Not to mention, they never told us what we should do with these boxes of other people's stuff... you'd think Atlas would want to return these items to the people they belong to but apparently that's not their concern.) We were lucky enough to have Triple A and with that we got the full-coverage insurance, but even with 'full-coverage' they will offer you a fraction of what your items are worth. One example — my West Elm dresser, less than a year old, came with pieces of the lacquer case completely torn off, indents to the case, and what looks like white paint smeared across the entire front, yet Atlas considered this cosmetic damage and offered a fraction of the cost of it. I suppose it is technically cosmetic, but is it right? This dresser which I bought brand new, now looks like I dug it our of a trash pile. Lacquer, as a material, cannot be repaired. So the valuation for repair is moot. I have no choice but to live with it until I can afford to replace it myself. Really hurts because the dresser was $1499 which is no small sum and took a lot for me to save for. Now it looks like trash.w It would have made a lot more sense for us to have sold our furniture and repurchased it after the move, not to mention less expensive and less stressful. They lost boxes which they don't consider themselves to be liable for because we did not note these before the movers left us at our destination. What I don't understand is how the customer is expected to account for every box that they own before the movers leave, when the movers stack the boxes in a pile and don't bother cross-referencing the manifest that was created at the original location, and leave quite quickly after piling everything up. It takes time to begin unpacking and realizing what is missing, but if you note this on the claims form, somehow that doesn't matter to Atlas. Good luck keeping in communication with them, because they will hardly respond and it will take months. Apparently they are very busy with claims... For a company whose service is to move your items safely from one destination to another, they sure aren't very good at it.

Unfortunately, we gave Atlas over $6000 to move our items. We move a lot for work, but we will never be working with Atlas again.
