Do not deal with Baystate Express!
I had the unfortunate experience of having my piano moved by them and damaged during transit by John Harden. He took responsibility for it when I pointed it out during delivery, and we’ve been emailing back and forth for 4 months trying to get an insurance claim. I got two local quotes to get the repairs done but they only offered to cover half of it through Baystate’s insurance. I didn’t agree with it at first but gave up on trying to get full compensation after waiting 2 months, so I accepted their insurance settlement. However, after confirming my address twice through Howard at BayState Express, they said they sent the check twice, I still have not received any payment.
They won’t respond to emails or calls, and I have left multiple VMs. They won’t even confirm with a tracking number that they’ve sent the check. At this point I told them I would follow up with an insurance fraud complaint and they have not done anything. I would give them the benefit of the doubt but they take forever to respond to emails or pick up calls. They won’t confirm with a tracking number they’ve sent the check. They make up excuses just to stall and waste my time. AVOID doing business with these people!
I normally don’t feel the urge to post bad reviews but if I could ever give no stars, this would be the company. Delivery was 5/27/18 from Conn to California. Damaged not one but ALL 7 of my boxes containing Liaigre lampshades: crushed, punctured; would not give any info regarding their insurance carrier-only that they were self ins and would pay .60/lb, would not disclose specifics of the incident, no transparency, no communication regarding delivery time: got call one day prior then didn’t deliver on that day and one day late. The most unethical company that I had the misfortune to find through USHIP which still supports them as far as I can tell. My delivery man was named JOHN HARDEN who told me “everything goes thru me”. (Owner or at least a principal?). This guy now conveniently is going to be “overseas” for the next few weeks. BEWARE!!!
John at Baystate was a savior for my seller! He responded to an ad I posted and was super communicative. Went right over to my seller's house and gave her a terrific estimate on the spot. He was on time, thorough, respectful (which was huge because this seller had a very difficult and unique situation), efficient, and professional. Baystate has gone to the top of my list for movers as a result of this experience.
I wish I could properly rate their 'service,' but they never showed up. We tried calling them multiple times, left multiple messages and emailed them, but they couldn't respond until the next day, despite being open from 6 am - 10 pm. Very unprofessional. They claimed they messed up the date, even though they gave us written confirmation of the correct date and accepted our deposit, which has not yet been returned to us. I do not recommend using them for your move. You're better off getting a U-Haul and doing it yourself because that's what we had to do because of the inconvenience they caused.
