Updating this review, it would have been higher if our credit card had not been overcharged by nearly 50%, $2,400 more than the estimate of $5,140.72. However, this has has now been resolved to our satisfaction after several emails back and forth, we were mailed a check for $1,707.10 which brought the total moving cost down to $5,654.79, about 10% over the estimate. This amount seemed reasonably fair since the owner said his estimates were 'rarely' off by more than 10% and this final total was close to estimates from competitors.

The written estimate included packing and moving services for an interstate move from our 1,000 sq ft, two-bedroom apartment in Arlington, VA to Morgantown, WV. The estimate was based on a complete inventory of items to be moved that was conducted in-person by the business owner, Giancarlo and included an itemized list for costs and a weight estimate to nearest pound for each room.

Why were final costs so much higher than their estimate? Packing services increased about $1,100 from $1,953.80 to $3,062, 57% more than estimated, most of that extra packing materials. Weight also was 1,900 lbs. higher than the estimated weight of 6,497 lbs. At a cost of $0.2636 per pound, this added about $500 to the moving cost, about 30% more than estimated.

On a positive note, for the move itself the workers did a pretty good job and were nice and hard working. None of our stuff was broken or lost in our move and no damage was caused to the place we moved out of or to the place we moved into. The workers put down cardboard to keep the floors from getting dirty or damaged. The packing, move out and move into new place occurred on schedule.

I've used BB&D movers three times over the past several years. The movers are pleasant, efficient, and careful with your belongings; all for a fair price. I would definitely use them again!
