Josè and his team did such a great job! They were polite, efficient, careful and packed the truck to perfection. They made a very stressful move go smoothly and accommodated all of our questions. Josè, Najar, Hector, Larry, and Edwin worked tirelessly all day to be sure they completed the job on time. Highly recommend Big Shoulders for your move.

Review:

We recently moved from Mid-Michigan to the Iowa City area. Although the original set up went through One Source, Big Shoulders and Juven did the actual move. There had been some confusion with One Source, but Juven listened and calmly found a way to serve us. He and his crew were respectful and efficient. Our items were treated with care and respect. The weather was terrible with sub-zero temperatures, and still, they had our belongings to us the next day! I understand that cannot always be guaranteed, but it was a welcome surprise to us! We strongly recommend Big Shoulders Moving and Storage.

Jose and his crew were amazing to work with he clearly laid out any costs up front and told me how the move was going to work, extremely professional and easy to work with for the loading process, would recommend to anyone needing movers!

I'll start this off by saying the guys that picked my stuff up I had no problem with, they seem to have a general sense of professionalism and were respectful. However, when it came time to set up the delivery is when the complete lack of professionalism came into play. I called on Friday January 31st and was told a delivery date of February 8th or 9th (Saturday or Sunday) is confirmed. (I was ok with either date as it was the weekend, so I had no issue there). I asked 'Are you sure you can confirm they will be here on one of those dates?', they confirmed with 'Yes there shouldn’t be any issue with that.' Come February 7th, I called to confirm the delivery date and they 'Had a delay' and said they needed until February 10th in the afternoon or February 11th. I know things happen, so I understood and said that’s fine. I had a full day of work call scheduled for the 11th so I moved some meetings around to accommodate thinking they would show up. I called again on February 8th to confirm and this is where it all starts to go downhill. They again 'had some delays' and said it would now be the February 12th most likely. Frustrated that I moved several things on my schedule around to accommodate, I asked them to give me an actual confirmed delivery date not a 'maybe date' and explained I have a busy schedule and cannot play a guessing game as I've already told my boss multiple times a date that I would need off so I could be there and had nothing to show for it. So, at this point I'm calling them every day to try and get my stuff and it’s got pushed back every day. Original date was 'confirmed' as the 7th or 8th, here it is the 11th and I call again and it got delayed again to the 12th.

I have had to reschedule so many work meetings just to try and accommodate this nonsense. If you can’t confirm a date, its simple, DONT. I also signed the lease based off the date they gave me, if I had known they would be so unprofessional, I would have delayed the date of move in because now I have had keys to my place for a week and haven’t been able to stay there because they can’t do a simple task of confirming a delivery date.

Are they going to pay for the week that my place has sat empty? NO.

Are they going to explain to my boss why I have to keep rescheduling PTO? NO.

Are they going to pay the extra rent I’m having to pay at my current place? NO.

All of this could be solved if when they gave a CONFRIMED delivery date they'd stick to it.

*UPDATE*
I'll again start off by saying the movers were great. I had one of the same guys that picked my stuff up and they even put together a few items for me. Which I appreciate.

But my rating stands after all of the rescheduling I had to do and all the calls made and time spent. most of my calls were not noted by the scheduling team I talked to making the manager think that I was exaggerating the issue. Additional I was offered what I would consider a bribe to remove my review. I was offered $100 to remove it which doesn't come close to making up for all the nonsense with scheduling.

I think I was given a discount on my storage but money isn't everything so while appreciated, it's not worth removing a review and not letting other know about my experience.
