Movers damaged several items during my move that could have been very easily avoided. I’ve been attempting to reach their main office folks for MONTHS to get needed info to file an insurance claim. No one will return my calls. I would never recommend to use this company. You’re better off moving everything yourself.

We had a super professional move out with Merchants out of Wisconsin, and our stuff went to Budd’s storage facility for 3 mos. We weren’t quite ready for it yet but our storage credit ran out and we needed some of our stuff so we had it moved to a local storage where we could access it. I showed up to find 4 guys ready to unload. The positive is that it was done very quickly. The negative list is much longer. I was texting and calling my husband throughout the day to tell him I couldn’t believe how UNPROFESSIONAL they were! On the light side- they set cold wet drinks on my wood furniture leaving rings and left trash in my storage. On the serious side- one guy would drag on expensive couch by himself damaging the legs on it rather than asking a second guy to get a side. They stuffed things up to the ceiling above the fire sprinkler which is not allowed by the storage facility, stuff was stolen and when I caught a guy RED HANDED putting a stereo receiver into his car I confronted him about it. He said I heard you tell our driver it wasn’t yours... I told him “you have no idea what happened after that! I text a photo and my husband told me it was in my sons box of stuff, so I text a photo to my son and he confirmed it was indeed his!” Besides that it was on my manifest from merchants saying exactly where it was packed up from. The man would NOT take accountability for his actions (meaning apologize or admit he should have asked me). Some of our wooden cabinets were thrown to the top of a very high tower of boxes sitting askew on top of other wooden furniture tossed in at all kinds of crazy angles. Needless to say it got all scratched up. The worst part was at the end of the move (which was not even 1/2 day, I saw the driver paying two of the guys in cash and heard the conversation indicating they were day laborers and NOT EMPLOYEES of Budd. When I told the driver I wasn’t really happy about the situation and that I personally caught one of his day laborers stealing from me, he said oh, it was Merchants (the company that contracted them) that arranged the day labor, so I went around the truck to ask the 2nd employee if Merchants hired the day laborers and he said no then started stammering and called the other guy over to tell a better lie... I WOULD NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!! $16,000 and this is how they took care of us!! It may be better for you if you’re doing a move right from one home to another with no storage, but if you move to a storage you sign something that says they have NO LIABILITY! So they will act accordingly treating your stuff with NO respect!
