I have moved 3 times in the last 4 years used them every time... i can understand what others are saying this company is very professional. my last move was such shot notice on thanksgiving and the came though for me call me van lines is the best in m opinion stars all the best
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do NOT Use! Total Ripoff. Once they have your goods, they do whatever they want and take as long as you want threatening to store your goods and make you pay for it if you file a complaint. Beware of brokers who will arrange a move with van lines like this one.
11/17/2016...Oh my, where do I begin? SEE MY PHOTOS HERE. STILL waiting and NO compensation for literally destroying my things and then actually stating that my things were damaged beyond repair when they went into storage, hmm so who would pay for trashed furniture for 26 months? David is unbelievable and his so called claims department are inhuman, basically telling me that the way they treated me was in the contract, but I just failed to read it.
I would give zero stars had that been an option. This was one of THE worst experiences in my entire life and I'm in my fifties and disabled so that says alot. The owner, David was so rude and so unprofessional that I would forget that I was in a conversation with a business. Upon arriving to my storage facility he did what I now know that he does best, he changed my binding estimate from 2700 lbs to 3500 lbs ($1434 to $1965). On top of that he told me that I needed to pay an ADDITIONAL $500 because my apartment complex could not accommodate his semi, I refused. I then told him that he should be discussing any monetary issues with the broker because I was disabled and feeling overwhelmed, he replied that he didn't care if I was dying...yes, he actually said that! The broking company, Aegis Relocation Services was useless and very new so he did whatever Dave said instead of the other way around! Dave kept my items in his warehouse and took three full weeks to deliver. When he decided to deliver yesterday, he told me to get a uhaul and meet his driver at the uhaul facility if I wanted my things. I felt I had no choice so I reluctantly went to a uhaul facility to rent a truck so that I could get my things that I'd had in storage for two years. The driver I met with told me that I had to pay the balance before he could begin to unload. I'd never heard of that and was afraid to, but I decided not to protest because at that point, I just wanted my furniture and to go home; I was both physically and mentally exhausted. Dave lied and said that the driver would follow me and unload at the apartment but I knew he wouldn't because if he was going to do that then I would not have needed a uhaul unless the driver showed up in a semi. The driver asked me to sign some papers once he'd finished. I then asked why can't I just sign after he unloads at the apartment and he just said it's best if you sign now since you have your furniture. I didn't get a chance to inspect anything because everything was wrapped with blankets that he didn't even want back; he then just left me there. I gave him the cash balance and that one driver single-handedly unloaded my items in 35 minutes flat so it could not have been even near 3500 lbs and probably not even the 2700. I didn't have much because I had sold many things before leaving Texas after taking ill. My things were in a corner of his truck. The uhaul attendant told me that she could see what was going on and was sorry that it was happening to me. She said that it looked like I got one of those bad carriers. I was too distraught to discuss it. I just climbed into the truck and headed home in disbelief of what had just happened and actually, the process of the last three weeks. Well it's the next day and I am here waiting for some hired helpers to unload my uhaul so that I can return the truck. I can only hope that my speaking out helps even one person or family to not go thru even half the stress and humiliation that I went thru. This company really should not be in business!!
Please, you've been warned...STAY AWAY!
Added 24 Oct 2016:
As if what I've already encountered wasn't enough, I just learned after my hired helpers unloaded my items from the truck that there is extreme damage to my couch and loveseat, mattress, crystal lamp, etc. There is also damage to my night stand and a broken vase. I expected minor scratches from such a long move, but the back of my couch and loveseat pillows look like a crazed person took a machete to it. We're definitely going to court, BBB and the media! I have made it my sole mission to stop this man/company!
THIS IS A SCAM! Do NOT use this company if you value your belongings or money. After the truck was late, I finally get a call from 'Dave' from Call Me Van Lines who seemed to think his driver was already there. I said there was no truck and he said he would investigate and call me back. The truck that was supposed to be there at 10am didn't arrive until 2pm in a rented Budget truck. The driver walks through the house and gives me a new quote for over $9,000! I said no way and why did the price change when I had given an inventory list of everything. They said they had estimated 800 cubic ft and this would take up over 2000. Dave tells me he's sending his guys to lunch while I figure this out. He calls me back and says the best he can do is $6800. It was too late to rent a moving truck, so we just ate the cost. The movers return 2 hrs later. They didn't have all the tools to disassemble the furniture and kept asking me for my tools, which were packed. At one point, because they did not have the proper ratchet attachment, they just unscrewed the legs of my antique dining table. But since this is an antique, one of the screws was stripped, so they just ripped the screw out, damaging the wood in that part. After they loaded, they said we owed them 50%. I handed them a credit card and the driver said, 'Cash or check only.' I told them we paid the deposit on a card, so he makes a call (presumably to Dave) and says someone will call me the next day to get a credit card payment. Then I notice that they have left 2 of the dining room chairs. So I asked them and they said there was no room! I said, 'What am I supposed to do about the chairs?' and they just shrugged their shoulders. The driver was having me sign paperwork and said we could write good comments about them. So I said, 'If you fit those 2 chairs on the truck, I will write a good comment.' And guess what? They fit the chairs on the truck! Two days later, Dave calls at 10 pm to tell me I haven't paid. I told him what his driver said about the credit card and he said no he doesn't accept credit cards, no matter what his driver said. Now he had our things and could demand whatever he wanted. I didn't have that kind of cash and he told me to get a cash advance on my credit card!! I asked him if I could just come get my things. He said they were at a warehouse in Phoenix and I could get them for $2500!! A few days later, I contact Dave to tell him when I would be to Phoenix and he told me that he had the truck take the things to LA because he doesn't have to pay a storage fee there. I tell him when I will be coming and he said he could be there to let me into the warehouse. So we fly into Vegas to rent a truck because it was $1000 cheaper. I call Dave to tell him we will be there in 5 hrs. When we are an hour away, he tells me it would be the next day! The next day we show up and call him and he says he is closed for the day and hangs up. Turns out he just rents a storage unit at the facility. We called the police who took our statement and said we could file extortion charges on him. The manager of the facility said that she had another man come with the same story. She calls Dave and tells him that's not how they do business and he can't stay there if this is going to happen. The next day he refuses to show us our things until we give him $2500 CASH! He told us that was how it worked and call the police. So we called the police AGAIN. Then he leaves to go get food! When he comes back, we had worked out a solution with the manager and owner of the storage facility for him to sign a paper saying he would not lock us out of the unit until we had gotten our things out if we paid him the $2500. So we gave him a money order. Once he had the money, he told his men to unlock the unit, take our things out and then he leaves!
