I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel this is necessary so others aren’t left in the same situation as myself and my neighboring units.

*Short Version: This place is not secure. The cameras may or may not record and aren’t detailed enough to catch a license plate or positively identify a face. Although we have a name and address, an arrest can’t be made due to the lack of security.

The Whole Story:
The reason I chose this storage facility is because it looked extremely secure. When you pull up, all the brick and iron fencing gives you a sense of safety for your personal belongings. Once you walk in the office the TV’s on the wall with all the cameras really confirm that feeling. I have been a tenant since April or May of ’24 in a 12 x 25 unit that I could drive right up and load things into. My unit was 7007 and right on the main drag.

On December 10th about 5:00 pm I made a quick trip to storage to grab some Christmas decorations. I was in the facility for about 5 minutes. I opened the door to my unit, parked nest to it, and started digging for my decorations. At some point a maroon ford explorer hauling a trailer was parked a ways down by the gate just sitting there, but I didn’t think anything of it. He drove by me slow and turned around at the end of the facility and drove back past my unit until stopping in front of a unit across and down from mine. Moments later a spray paint green, large car from the 80’s with a chopped top pulled up next to the Explorer and opened the unit they were parked in front of. Again, I thought if they were behind the gate, they were residents, so I didn’t worry.

Fast forward to Saturday, December 14th when I get a call from the storage facility asking me if there was any way that I forgot to put a lock on my unit. I told him I absolutely locked it up when I left and asked him to open it, which he did. He even sent me a pic of my stuff inside. I could immediately tell that I’d been robbed. Sure, my motorcycles were there, but so much was missing.

I showed up and inventoried what was missing (about $7K worth), called the police and waited. The LSPD showed up and requested the recording. What do you know, the storage facility couldn’t even produce the recording. Even the storage facility said that even if they could produce it, it likely wouldn’t show anything that would prove guilt such as a face or license plate.

We do know that the thieves were given access to the facility because they purchased a auction unit. They had unsupervised access to the whole facility for 72 hours.

Upon moving the rest of my belongings out, I met my neighbors. They too had been robbed, but the thieves had replaced their lock with their own, so it went undetected until they tried to access their unit and the key didn’t work.

Yes, I paid for $4K worth of insurance and was able to file a claim. This doesn’t help me with the other $3k, which the storage facility kindly told me I could claim on my renters or homeowners policy. I looked into it, and it would raise my rates significantly to file that claim, so I’ll eat the extra loss.

I’ve attached pictures of the times the temporary auction code was used, showing that they came back at 9 that night and drilled out my lock and others. The auction info is also shown. A pic of the lock that was drilled out is also attached.

When you pay $600/month for a storage unit, you expect it to be secure. I feel it was complete and total negligence on the part of the storage facility to not have cameras that actually record or are able to see detail.

If you are looking to store valuables, please consider looking elsewhere. This place has almost no security.

Needed to rent a van in a hurry. Reserving online was simple. Pick up was quick and easy. Shelby was helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
