Get ready for add-on fee after add-on fee after add-on fee. I feel I was REALLY misquoted on the phone. Final cost was more than DOUBLE what I was expecting.

15 HOUR NIGHTMARE MOVING EXPEREINCE

This is my post- College HUNKS Justin, TX (Franchisee: Collins Industries II Inc 401k) review. The operations manager that managed this contract was Rashawn Williams. Unlike many of the reviews on this site, I did not use this organization for hauling junk. I used this organization for local/in-town moving service.
To provide context and perspective, I’m an executive in the financial industry and have moved across country several times in my career. Needless to say, I’ve had extensive experiences with national and local moving companies. This experience, however, is by far the worst I’ve ever experienced and I deeply regret using this franchise and company. The process started a month prior to my move date, when I contacted a number moving companies. I choose College Hunks because they gave me the most competitive quote. I was quoted $1555 by the national representative after I explained all of my belongings, rooms, and locations. The quote included a truck and 3 movers with an estimated time of 6-7 hours (we’ll get back to this). I then received a call from the local franchisee’s operations manager, Reshawn to confirm my move date. During my call I offered a physical site visit to my home to get an accurate quote. I was informed it wasn’t necessary and that and that the extra packaging that I may needed would round the job out to $2,300. The manager seemed honest and professional so I accepted and paid my $100 deposit.

MOVING DAY EXPERIENCES
A total of 4 movers showed up around noon (not the 3 movers quoted). I inquired and was told the 4 would make the job go quicker. The team was a group led named Alberto from its Arlington site and 3 young movers. Upon start I signed a contract and purchased $249 additional insurance (we’ll come back to that).

To expedite the moving process, my family and boxed most of our home. Remaining were loose items and our kitchen. I was hopeful that with 4 movers, this would be a “stress free” experience as their motto states.

I worked from my in-home office and observed unprofessional behaviors, foul language, and loud music blasting when they would have a runner or manager come by with food. None of the boxes that were packed by this the movers were labeled (see pic). This basic gesture would have gone a long way for unpacking. The team of 4 shared one box cutter. This clearly demonstrates a lack of experience in moving services.
In the process, my family’s T.V. was damaged. On the attached invoice, you’ll notice it says “crated.” It was not crated in a box; it’s simply wrapped in a blanket. I was reassured that my claim would be reimburse within 4-5 days. IT’s been 6 weeks now and franchisee have yet to respond to my calls. A notice to the BBB was also submitted.

By 7-8pm it occurred to me that these 4 movers were nowhere near completion and that drop off would take several more hours. At this point 8 hours of work has passed. At hour 10 we proceed to the final destination at 12am. The unloading process took a total of 4 hours. I had to spend more money and by having to put my family in a hotel throughout this ordeal.
In total, the job DID NOT take 6-7 hours. It started at noon and finished at 4AM (YES that is correct). I was billed for a total of 15 hours for 4 guys to move a 3 BR home. My original quote that started $1,500 ended up being over $5,000. Let that sink in. While I am flexible for the time it takes to move, the difference in estimated hours and final cost is simply beyond egregious.

FINAL THOUGHTS
The 15-hour experience was the most stressful and horrible ordeal I’ve had to endured for some. I’ve made several calls and waited over 30 days after my move to give this vendor sufficient time to make it right and they refused. Not honoring a damage claim even after paying additional $249 supplemental insurance is fraudulent. Upon unpacking we had even more damages to our kitchen appliances. In short, if you need moving services, avoid College HUNKS Justin, TX (Franchisee: Collins Industries II Inc 401k) at ALL COST.

Tyler and Ceasar were helpful and fast. They were careful with carrying furniture upstairs for us with no chips, scratches, or wall dings. I would hire them again.

College hunks made it easy to set appointment. They confirmed twice the day before and called with an estimated time of arrival in the time frame provided. They were quick and careful.
