College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Atlantic City

An older family member was given a quote for three movers for 8 hours. A fourth mover came on moving day. Nothing was said about the cost being 50% higher than the highest quoted estimate until the end of the day. The “manager” was the fourth person and made the decision on his own to stay and help without consulting the customer in any way. This person is on a fixed income and it’s unacceptable to make this decision then expect the customer to figure it out. The “manager” told her that he answers to no one so there is no one to complain to.
Two of the men worked very hard two not so much. If three able bodied movers had come it would have been fine.
Even charging what they did they left furniture in places they weren’t supposed to, didn't plug items in that are heavy and now need to be moved by someone else to finish a job that wasn’t done correctly.

Id not refer anyone to this office with this manager.

Note: we did not contact College Hunks corporate about our issue at the time due to my wife and I being overwhelmed with a last second move and not wanting to waste time arguing with a representative over what we were told by the head mover, was going to end in the same result which was C.H.'s not taking responsibility for damaged items.
We used College Hunks to move back in June 2024. The movers were very polite, pretty efficient, and did an adequate job. My issue is the staff broke our flat screen TV. Before we started the staff asked if wanted extra insurance, I don't remember how much. None the less the idea that we paid to have our stuff professionally moved, but if something was damaged the business is not responsible, unless we pay for extra insurance that if the staff did their jobs correctly, i.e. not damage our items, we don't get it back is nothing short of taking advantage of customers. We will not be using C.H. for our next move. It will be cheaper and we will almost definitely end with the same end result, if something gets broken we are 100% responsible., if we rent a Uhaul and I simply ask/hire some folks to help.
