Colonial Van Lines

If I could give Colonial Van Lines 0 stars, I would. Our move from South Carolina to New York was a complete disaster. Because our belongings had to go into storage while our house was being built, I was assured we would still have coverage beyond the standard 9-month period. However, once our items arrived in New York and were unloaded off the truck into storage by Colonial Van Lines, it was clear everything had been destroyed.

The movers in South Carolina arrived smelling of weed, with bloodshot eyes, and handled our belongings with total disregard. The damage included:
•A destroyed dining table
•A sleep number bed, with the mattress folded in half
•A broken China cabinet
•Two damaged TVs
•A ruined treadmill and exercise bike
•Smashed boxes and scratched antique furniture

When I tried to address the situation, I was passed from one person to another. Erick never followed up, and Aaron eventually told me they would offer only $500 for the extensive damage—then essentially told me “too bad, you signed a contract.”

Colonial Van Lines is NOT a company of their word. Their customer service is non-existent, and they take zero accountability. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Stay far away.

Update: they’ve called me and adjust their offer between $700-750 for the damage. Only Donna has reached out in person, otherwise I get an email saying final offer take it or leave it. Not one person has apologized.

Just looking at the photos of the damage, and offering that sum is deplorable.

New Edit to their response: They offered me $700 and to sign a contract that says I cant sue them, and act as though i don't want a resolution. Nobody believes you are this kind, and helpful, and so willing to take responsibility for the damage. 700 wouldnt even cover the mattress you destroyed.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY DON'T CARE NOR DO THEY RESPECT YOUR PROPERTY EVEN IF THEY DESTROY IT.

Top-notch service from the first phone call through every step of the move, as well as the follow-up. Communication was ample and clear. Both Colonial reps on the phone as well as the men who drove, packed a few of our things we wanted to be sure were well cared for treated us with kindness, respect, and professionalism. I would highly recommend them.
