Extra Space Storage

First experience with a storage unit, NOT my first experience moving large awkward items.

Unless this place has a VIP experience I don’t know about, or you are storing small, hand carried items, I would not recommend to friends.

While the experience of renting and ending the rental were straight forward and easy, and the staff was friendly, the building itself lacks a lot of basic design functionality that seems pretty critical to such a business.

1. Parking is up a small hill, not great for lots of trips with heavy items. Extra frustrating in anything less than lovely weather.

2. If you park in the blocked off no parking zone in front of the doors for closer loading, there are huge parking poles which make sense, but also make it impossible to navigate large inflexible objects between/ into a van.

3.Elevator is small (passenger sized), and the door stays open for LESS than 10 seconds (I counted) You can’t hold it open, or it may malfunction and you are stuck!Especially risky if you are moving after hours, which we had to.

3. Provided carts are small (fine for boxes, too small for most of our furniture)and only the front wheels steer, meaning you can’t pull with much control, only push which can get ify and tricky especially rounding the narrow hallways. Attempting to put more than one in that impatient elevator is very difficult.Lots of frustrating trips with having to pick up and move the cart, defeating its helpfulness.

4. Ground level is uneven brick/stones making the carts bounce and even harder to control, had to go back for dropped items countless times.

I generally don’t leave reviews unless I have positive things to say, but in my experience moving is a stressful enough situation, and this list of nuisances certainly didn’t make my experience easier or less stressful.

Friendly suggestion to take a walk around before signing anything.
