Extra Space Storage

This place is frustrating. Per the contract and calls with office staff, they’re supposed to leave a lock in your locker. I made sure to go during advertised office hours on my third visit. Office was locked and closed… still no lock… wasted half a month on an empty locker coupled with loading and unloading items in the extreme cold.

UPDATE 2/8/25 11am - changing my review from 1 star to 3.

Christian has been very responsive and helpful. When we called this morning after the office opened, he was already gathering information and about to reach out to us—he knew exactly what was going on. He personally checked on our unit and lock to make sure it hadn’t been tampered with to the point where our new lock would be useless. He also offered to add an additional double lock plate until ours arrived, which we really appreciated. We’re still working through the next steps, including official police reports, but so far, I’ve been impressed with his response.

ORIGINAL REVIEW -

We’ve had a unit at this location for TWO WEEKS, and it’s already been broken into.

Someone drilled through the cylinder lock and rummaged through all my belongings. Extra Space did call to notify us that our unit was unlocked, and I appreciate that, but their after-hours helpline was completely useless when we actually needed help. They called the manager, left a voicemail, and that was it—we never got a call back.

I feel violated and now I’m seriously concerned that it’ll happen again. We plan on installing an extra padlock and a double lock plate, so even if someone drills through the cylinder lock, they still won’t be able to get in. But honestly, I shouldn’t have to go to these lengths to feel secure for a more expensive unit in a climate-controlled facility that’s supposed to provide better security.

I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed. We’ll be speaking with the ExtraSpace office tomorrow, but at this point, I’m beyond annoyed.

This storage unit in Eagan has the most polite employees willing to accommodate our needs. I used them in my old company and got my new company to use them. I highly recommend them as a storage unit. They go above and beyond the Call of Duty to provide for my needs

I rented a unit here for a little over 2 years and it was a breeze.
