We've been doing business with Extra Space Storage for 9 months now and I want to give a shoutout to Emily at the Oro Valley location. The corporation chooses to not offer annual contracts to lock in a price, and instead, they jack the price 100-200% and expect you to pay it. I was livid at the absurd mark up and contacted Emily in the local office. She was very empathic to what I said and went back to the corporate office with our counter offer. To avoid paying the exorbitant fee change, I was prepared to pull all of our belongings if necessary. Emily went to bat for us against corporate, and got the company to accept our counter offer of a more affordable fee change, and also found us a digital coupon to save even more! Our new final price isn't much different than our previous price. She also offered us a pre-pay option to lock in the payment for 6 months to avoid playing the corporate, 'lets make a deal' game. She assured me if we didn't need the unit for the full 6 months, we can get a refund on the unused pre-paid amount. So, on a scale of 1-5, I give Emily's customer service skills, patience and attitude, a 5 star rating! On that same scale, I give the storage room and building facility, also 5 stars. As for the corporation's decision to make all customers play the financial 'lets make a deal' game every 3-4 months, I give them a 1 star rating. I'm old school and believe you should offer an honest product/service for an honest price and not try the patience of the customer every chance you can. So the bottom line is , if you have more money than you know what to do with, disregard this review/opinion. To everyone else that needs a storage unit in Oro Valley, go see Emily and take advantage of the info we've learned and have her help you make the storage unit experience less stressful.

I was only with this storage facility a few months but after they raised my rent from $83 to $128 without a heads up I put in my notice to cancel. I paid for a month the $128 and moved out within a couple days Emily tried to get me a refund but I was told there was nothing she could do after she looked into it. I don’t recommend a business that raises its rent without your knowledge. I was told a letter was sent I never received one.
