I was on site for some work and Tina was wonderful help with locating everything that I needed to find!

I give 1 star for one reason only. The ever raising of the rate. How I wish I researched more into storage facilities in general.

I looked for storage to put some things that were seasonal items and keepsakes in, as I dont have a lot of storage space in my home anymore. I came across this facility who advertised a 'web only' rate of $49 on 2/1/24 for a small 10x5 unit. That rate lasted for 4 mos, then was increased to $87 (a 77.5% increase) per month. As of 3/2/25 it will increase again to $111, for a grand total of a 126.5% increase from the day I rented it, one year ago.

The notices of rate increase comes via written notice in the mail with the reason being: '..based on the current market rates...'. What I find odd is that as of today, my same type of unit, is on the website as a $40 per month 'web special'. Such deception.

I will pay the $111, as I have 2 elderly parents I take care of and between their health issues and coordinating moving it all, I not only need someone to help me move it, but also need someone else to stay with my folks while Im gone. However, after this month, I see no choice but to find a different company or figure out another solution. It's not the cost that bothers me. It is the fact that they raise the prices simply because they can; because they know moving things around is a huge pain, so most people won't move and will simply pay it instead. At least until the continuous increases become too high to afford. I find it to be an extremely deceptive practice.

Look, if you are only keeping things in storage for a short time, say a month or two, you won't need to be concerned about increases. However, if you're in a situation like myself where you need something longer term? Beware of these increases and calculate the true cost into what you can afford monthly.

Fo r example, based on my own incremental increases, if you rent a medium (10x15) unit on the 'web special ' rate TODAY, the rate is currently $132 per month. You can expect the 1st increase to begin the 5th month, and the rate of $132 will increase to $234. After a year, the rate will be raised again, and will now cost you $299 per month.

Sadly, Illinois has no laws protecting people who rent storage units from this practice. I intend to start reaching out to work with whomever it takes in our state government to get consumer protections into law, because it simply isn't right. I've attached my payment history and my upcoming bill due to prove what I am saying is accurate. The first 2 photos show my payment history and upcoming bill. The 3rd photo is a screenshot of what it costs if you rented today. Normal price of $58 is crossed out with a web rate of $40.
