I engaged this company to handle the relocation, storage, and subsequent return of several small items, including a washer-dryer combination unit and minor furnishings, as part of a condominium renovation. My decision to proceed was based solely on the assurances provided by the sales representative, and I neglected to have my attorney review the contract prior to signing—a misstep I now recognize as my own. The representative assured me over the phone that a total of $1,400.00 would cover all services in full. To my surprise, the contract that was emailed to me, which I electronically signed, was entirely different from what the sales representative had presented during our discussion. Ultimately, we were charged $1,800.00 solely for the move-out and 4.5 months of storage, rather than the comprehensive move-in, move-out, and six-month storage package I had requested.
Upon further inquiry, I asked whether self-pickup would reduce the cost compared to their delivery service. The response was that no savings would apply, as their staff would still need to oversee the handling of our items during pickup. Subsequent review by my attorney revealed that the contract included a duplicate charge for the labor associated with moving the items out, further inflating the cost. In terms of performance, the company maintained adequate communication throughout the process, and their packing and moving efforts were satisfactory. However, as we have yet to retrieve the items, I cannot confirm whether any damage has occurred beyond the billing discrepancies.
I escalated the matter by contacting the owner, Brian, hoping to address the significant disparity between the quoted price and the final charges. Regrettably, it became clear during our conversation that he is complicit in the underlying issues, providing little transparency or willingness to rectify the situation. This experience has highlighted the critical need to scrutinize contractual terms and has left me deeply dissatisfied with the company’s billing practices, despite their operational adequacy.
