Despite my high expectations, I had a really bad experience with Handle With Care Moving & Storage. The movers appeared ill-prepared and arrived late. They packed my belongings in a hurry, which led to multiple broken parts. I had to follow up with them to get updates because of their poor communication. Many things were missing when I eventually got my property. The entire procedure was extremely irritating due to their condescending and incompetent customer support. I am really sorry I went with this firm, and I would not suggest them to anyone searching for trustworthy storage and moving services. Avoid the headache!
Despite my high expectations my experience with Handle with Care Moving & Storage LLC was disappointing. My entire schedule is thrown off when the movers arrive late. They were polite, but they handled my furniture carelessly; After the transfer, I discovered dents and scrapes. Furthermore, it was difficult to find my belongings as the storage facility seemed cluttered. Overall, the service was below what I expected for the cost
If quoted one price, then the real charge is way more. Bad communication and items lost.
Update! It has been 5 months and I still have not received reimbursement for my items based off of my contract!!! All emails have gone unaswered
THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. DO NOT USE THEM!!!
I hired them through a broker.
1. Communication regarding this move has been terrible. As I communicated before, going over the inventory lists was pulling teeth, nothing was explained to me regarding the process or time frames and information was consistently entered incorrectly. I had to request updated invoices from both companies several times.
2. I was lied to regarding the estimate of this move. After the items were loaded onto the truck, you almost doubled the cubic feet. When we went through and organized the items it only took up a little over 800 cubic feet. So to be fair, my items should not have taken up more than 1,000 cubic feet. I was charged for 1,600 cubic feet.
a. Estimate 1 w/ My Move- 674cubic feet for $3,300
b. Estimate 2 w/ My move- 1,000 cubic feet for $5,660.00
Total actually paid- $5,997.32
3. My items hostage unless payment was made, even though I was actively communicating with them regarding the invoices being incorrect and way over the amount I should be paying. This is highly unprofessional and illegal.
4. There was no communication regarding delivery until I called on the 8th day asking when items were to be delivered because I was lied to and was not informed that my items were put into storage. This was not authorized, I was informed my items would be loaded and moved immediately to my drop off location.
5. The driver who delivered my items did not have my drop off address and I had to give that information to him again. He did not have any DOT documentation. There was no weight ticket. He arrived later than what he said he would, with a budget rental truck. He did not have his documents organized or a claims form for me to fill out regarding damages as it was coming off the truck. I did not receive a copy of the inventory list to check off items as it came off the truck. He was not gentle with my items and I watched him scratch several items to include my freezer.
6. The 'Interstate Bill of Lading Contract' I was forced to sign to receive my items is INCORRECT. Again, I was charged $7.00 per cubic feet when I should have been charged $6.00. Again a gratuity was added, it was NOT authorized. $729.60 of gratuity was added to my final payment making it $1,998.32. The driver then asked AGAIN for a tip after the items were unloaded.
7. The damage with my items is immense. Nothing is secured with straps. I am missing a lot of hardware. When I booked this move, I was informed a team of professionals would take apart and reassemble my items. This was not done. Now I have a kitchen table with no hardware and now unable to be used because I cannot put it back together.
8. Per section 9 of my contract with My Move, I have a 'binding to not exceed' and the total cost will not exceed the estimated amount I provided. This was not done.
9. Per My Move contract I have a standard cargo protection up to $10,000 base on $0.60 per pound. Since the driver did not weigh my items I do not even have the ability to figure what my refund should be.
I reported both companies to the Department of transportation and the BBB. DO NOT USE THEM
RUN FROM THIS SCAMMING COMPANY. My cost was almost triple of the quoted price and the pickup driver raised his voice at me when I told him I could not pay his demanded “tip” of $800 on top of this inflated invoice. Multiple furniture pieces were broken, chipped; lamps ruined. Most of my decorative items and pictures were thrown into the same boxes unwrapped. You can imagine that outcome. Had anyone in this company (we spoke to 5 people) showed any integrity in answering my complaints I would have not felt the need to warn prospective customers. Have you ever known a professional company who allows their mover to bring his dog into every room of your home while he packs your belongings? Well, you still haven’t. This is not a professional company.
