Over charged by $1400 and offered $660 for items missing worth $1000s.
This has been a truly traumatic and stressful experience for me, when I've been going through one of the worst periods of my life.
I was being forced to move home from NYC to the UK in March '24 due to severe mental and physical health issues. Due to all of the challenges I was dealing with I needed a good value, helpful provider, which i believed ISAS to be. Unfortunately I was incorrect.
As I was unable to pack myself, due to being on crutches and I was unsure how much volume I would need to book, I asked to use their packers. We agreed on a volume that was adjustable, should I need to add more once, and went with $2200 for '21 large items'. I wasn't sure what this really meant, but after discussing what I had with the team it felt this was a good estimate.
The packers called the morning of their booking, asking what items needed to be packed, as they were at the warehouse picking up boxes. They should have been with my by this point, so I was a little worried they were running late and also, uninformed about what they should be packing.
I'd managed to arrange my belongings, with my sister's help, in order of priority, so I asked them to start packing at a specific place and then let me know when they'd reached my booked volume. This would then allow me to make an informed decision about what was still not packed and the amount it would cost me extra to ship it. As I was unsure how much fit into '21 items' I'd put some things aside as a 'good to have' if they fit, but wouldn't have shipped otherwise. I checked on them once or twice and they said everything was fine, seemingly reluctant to engage in any conversation, as they informed me they were running late.
In no time at all they were done and I expressed my surprise at their speed and that everything had fit within my booked volume. They were unresponsive and insisted I sign the packing form. Twice I asked them to confirm that everything had definitely fit within the booked volume & there was no extra charge. With my sister as a witness he irritably insisted yes both times, counting to 19 at me. I wasn't 100% sure he could understand me, given his broken English, and he seemed to just want to get to his next job as they were still running late, so I signed the document. Despite my fears my sister reassured me she's heard him confirm it and also, no one had checked any additional volumes or costs with me.
However, a few days later I received a bill for $3600, $1400 more than I'd booked. Upon querying it I was informed it was my fault. I'd shipped 30 items, not 21. Firstly I'm unsure how that math works (if 21 items is $2200, 30 items should be around $3100) and also, why had no one checked this additional cost with me? We'd agreed to adjust the cost if necessary, but I wouldn't have shipped many of the goods they'd packed had it been checked. I also didn't have that extra money.
I was offered $300 off, but this meant I lost my right to leave an honest review. The offer was rescinded with I and I had to pay the full amount to retain my right to free speech.
Upon unpacking my shipment, not only was there SO much packing paper, it was ridiculous (increasing the amount of boxes needed), several valuable items were missing.
ISAS helped to submit paperwork to the insurance company and I supplied a full outline of what had either been lost or stolen from my shipment. I have been offered $660 for items worth $1000s. Once again I'm being told it's my fault as I didn't read every single line of the insurance agreement and didn't list every single item of value in my shipment. Whilst I accept this, the T&Cs are also at the discretion of the insurer. They are aware of the items lost and are knowingly offering the lowest settlement possible, when there's a level of goodwill that can be applied to claims.
Jeanine and Niki were definitely helpful, but overall the experience has been awful.
Our experience with this company was 100% good. We checked with four other moving companies and found the prices to be very similar. I have no idea if those other companies work with such great people. The movers were very careful with our things, and seem to genuinely enjoy their job. That includes both teams to pack up and the delivery. The job was tough, we had a lot of stuff. Everything arrived just as we sent it. I would certainly recommend this company.
Thank you very much for all help during 'our journey' and constantly informed me every day and answered on all my questions. You are doing excellent job.
This was our first experience shipping household goods overseas and it couldn't have been easier or better. From the moment we started discussing this with ISAS to the next major step of working with Just Move in Ireland, we were hand-held every step of the way, from documentation to scheduling. When we reached out, they would all answer day or night, to our questions. When our personal dates changed and we had to inquire about storage of our goods for a month or so - that also was a breeze! It was done, we agreed to a delivery date, the lads were amazing to bring our goods to us in just as solid and good a shape as when we put them on the container in the US. Wow, we have never been so pleased with a group of people and their services from Day One to the final Day. Thank you so very much for your efforts on our behalf!
I use 'International sea and air shipping' to move from the US to a European country. So far I have received very professional service from the whole team. I want to especially thank my coordinator Janine for her exceptional responsiveness in answering all my questions within 5 minutes of my call or email.
I want to thank Nikki for her business since the beginning.
