John and his crew are , efficient, kind, caring, very knowledgeable and very attention detail They went above and beyond to make sure each and every item was carefully wrapped and packed so nothing was damaged. They were very kind to our dog who has stress issues. They constantly asked us where things went. Kept us informed about everything. We highly recommend J Gentle Van Lines. And definitely will use them in the future.
That you guys for everything!
Do NOT do business with this moving company!!! I repeat, DO NOT. From the beginning I was wary of Joe Caputo and his sales pitch. He was very persistent and contacted my husband numerous times to try to close us on this great moving experience that he promised us. That which we did not receive at all! It was a total nightmare and when everything started going south, Joe was nowhere to be found. He avoided his phone, didn’t return our calls or voicemails. He just disappeared into the night like the thief that he is. First, this company does not do onsite visits. They rely on you getting a large moving company in for quotes and then base their pricing, labor and trucks off those other companies. We were very transparent about what we needed and even communicated to him that we had a great deal of stuff to be moved and would require a large semi and at least a three-man crew. He said that would not be a problem and we reconfirmed several times with him leading up to our move. We also explained that we had to move on a specific date, due to several factors: my medical appointments, husband being required to go on a business trip, our daughter entering school and the fact that we had already booked and paid for our hotels for our drive to our new home, which was a long distance out of state move. The day before we were set to move, the company they contracted out to, called and said they wouldn’t have the semi we needed until the next day and that they would be there sometime around 2pm Thursday. We told them that was not going to work and that we needed the semi and could not change the dates of our move. So, they ended up bringing two smaller trucks, one that already had someone else’s things in it from a different move. Fast forward 13 hours later and almost 11 pm, they didn’t have enough space in the two trucks. Then came the shake downs for the money. The first payment, that was the initial deposit, was taken by credit card, so we thought that was how we would be paying for the entire move. WRONG! They legit held all our belongings, including our clothes and docked the truck and refused to start the move until we paid them through a Zelle wire. This caused a severe delay and as we headed out of state to drive with a child and animal with us in tow, they stayed back for two days, before heading out on the road. It forced us to stay three additional nights in a hotel and my husband was forced to cancel his business trip. We also had to pay an additional $3000 to add more cubic sq ft and still did not get the things we had to leave behind. That is another nightmare we were also left to deal with on our own and at an additional 2-3K of moving expenses more! We were supposed to move in on a Saturday and when the movers finally arrived at our home, i t was Monday at 5 pm. They then refused to unload unless we had a certified check in hand or cash. All banks were closed at that time, and our personal bank did not have any branches at our location. My husband was left scrambling to figure out how to get almost 5K in cash, so we could get our furniture and personal belongings. Once they started to unload our items, it was clear that they had damaged our stuff. We had a large gash in our dining room table, my large bookshelf had the top molding ripped off, my French desk was cracked, and several boxes of fragile items had been ruined or broken. They also assembled my king size bed incorrectly as well as the electronic base and forgot to properly screw in my large dresser mirror. There are also boxes that are missing that had valuable art and others with kitchen items. Moving cross country is stressful enough and to have to deal with what we delt with regarding this moving company, I would not wish on my worst enemy. Please think twice before you do business with JG Transportation LLC and J Gentle Van Lines Moving and Storage or with the likes of Joe Caputo, because you will regret it, I promise you that.
While I've never used this company for anything, I guarantee you after damn near being run off the highway by their truck, I would never. Not only did they cross the divider into the HOV lane illegally, they did not look and pushed us into the median. The driver is VERY wreckeless.
Something should be done. Tag #AX 856L. This happened TODAY, May 31st at 2pm on I91.
In February, I put in for a quote. I had to wait until I found a house before I could lock my quote in. For two months, the Owner/Sales Manager bugged me. He told me my belongings would be on a truck by themselves. When the drivers arrived, there were other people's belongings on the truck. When they delivered, there was other people's belongings on the truck. I got charged for stairs in which there were no stairs at the pickup or delivery location. I got charged extra for my desk, even though I sent the measurements in my inventory list. The driver's confirmed the delivery time and never showed up. I had to contact the drivers to find out they were going to be another 4/5 hours, which would have been very late at night. Driver did not want to schedule for the next day but did. I tried several times through email and phone to reach the Owner/Sales Manager in which he never contacted me back. I will not be using this company again. As of right now, I have one TV that is broken and I am still unpacking.
