Where do I start, these dudes have been a nightmare from the beginning. My wife and I made the mistake of using a broker to give us an estimate after taking inventory of all of our household goods which was our first mistake. I don’t know where the communication breakdown was but we had 1840 cubic ft worth of items and the one truck they had available had 1900 cubic ft worth of space. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the movers didn’t already have 400 cubic ft of other goods already inside the truck. This part I will say was the fault of the broker; they waited until the absolute last minute to get a detailed inventory of our goods and they did not tell the driver at Long Distance Movers/J&R movers. This added a lot of stress to the situation right away and led to multiple arguments between the driver, the broker and myself. At first, the driver “Anthony” was fairly patient. However we were told we had to pay with Venmo when the goods were packed up, and they only had about half our goods on the truck. This was shady given the fact that we were told we could pay with a credit card prior to their arrival, but we did it anyway. I was told that Anthony would come back in 3 days, which was fine because I had the day off in the days, however he called me two days later and was told he would be there in the early afternoon. I could see some people being happy about this but I wasn’t due to the fact that I had already arranged to leave work early the following day and this gave me zero lead time to tell my boss. Luckily he was late and it gave me just enough time to get there as they were starting while a friend opened the house for them. The driver never checked any items off the inventory form and kept trying to close up the truck even though there was a lot of items yet to be packed. The guys he had helping him were hired on Craigslist and did not know how to load the truck with care leading to a lot of my goods being damaged. After finally getting the remaining goods packed they arrived to our new house in NC several days later as planned, however the driver refused to open the door until we paid them in full via Venmo again. My wife, not really knowing what could go wrong, did pay them in full. After they started unloading my wife stayed that almost half our goods were missing, as she pointed out while checking items off the list. Anthony, the same driver, contacted one of his counterparts to check the storage unit, which we were never given an address to, for the rest of our goods. A few minutes later a pic was sent to him and he showed my wife; she was able to identify many of our goods right away. She never signed the itemized receipt due to the fact that the job was not complete and Anthony agreed that this was ok, as well as the fact that he would return with the rest ASAP. A week later we were told he was on the way with the rest, but several hours into the drive we received texts stating that “the truck had broken down” and that it would be in the shop for several days. We were given an estimate on how long this could take and then the correspondence ceased. He ignored all texts and calls so we looked up other numbers to contact. We then came across a number for a man named “Omar” who said he would attempt to get a hold of Anthony for us. He clearly didn’t. When my wife called Omar a second time he told her to “stop calling, it wasn’t going to help locate our goods any faster.” That’s when Omar began to blow us off as well. I then looked up the DOT# and MC# that was labeled on truck on FMCSA.com l and found their company info. From the beginning we were told the company was “Long Distance Movers” but the FMCSA website stated that the company was J&R MOVERS. So I went to J&R movers website thinking maybe the guys we used was using someone else’s truck info fraudulently. When I called the number for J&R they also hung up on me right away. We called the broker and it was reported to them that they delivered all our goods. Now we’re out $10k worth of goods, many with sentimental value. These guys are criminals.

I Quoted $150 hour for 3 men/1 truck. Only 2 showed up, & fee was still $150. Truck was already loaded with someone else’s furniture upon arriving at my house and there was not enough room for all my things. Consequently, we had to make two trips to my local destination. I didn’t mind that it was 2 trips, but 2 trips takes more time (@150 hr) that I had to pay for. The movers put some of my things in a storage facility (I did not observe), and I visited the facility just yesterday. I was heartbroken - many items of keepsake, valuable glassware were broken to shreds. I will have to pull everything out of the storage facility to assess the full extent of the damage. Had I read the many negative reviews I found on Reginald/J&R today, I would have never hired this company.
