Unfortunately, I don't have many nice things to say about the KO Storage location in Cleburne, TX. When I first starting renting out my unit roughly about 6 years ago, it was a mom and pop business. There was an office and the owners were very nice and helpful. I started renting out a 5'x10' unit for $35 a month. KO bought out the business. As soon as KO took over there were small changes immediately. There was officially no one in the office, my gate code would sometimes work and I would always have to call in to receive help to have the gate opened, and KO removed all the dumpsters so if you needed to throw away trash you would have to put it in your car instead. Every time I did have trouble with gate, every rep on the phone was very rude and made passive comments about how to enter in my code. Even after a reset, it wouldn't work.
Over time the rent of my unit has gone up, understandably with uprise with costs these days. But there were constant price increases and with one year having a total of 3 rental increases now paying $96 total for a 5'x10' unit. I have saved all emails that I have received from KO with my account and with changes that were being made. Also on my account, there is a $10 fee (Bader Program) that I did not have a say in if I wanted it or not and I'm not too sure what it even is. Now, I have searched for other units that their prices are WAY lower for the same size and the lowest I've found is $35 per month.
Once in the past you were able to schedule your own move out and do the process to cancel online, but now you can do it only through a phone call. My experience this week with that process is there was no time to prep on what their checkoff list was. When I moved out, every item was removed from my unit, swept, and the lock was taken off. What I was not expecting was that I needed to also submit a picture of my unit. I now live far away so I had to plan out of the work week to make a trip only for a picture. I am very disappointed that this information isn't available for all customers to make it easier understanding KO's process on how to close out their account. When asked to be able to have time and a make a trip to take a picture, the lady on the phone laughed at me and made the comment, 'Well if you want your account to be closed on your request date, then you need to submit a picture.' I was told that my account would stay open until that picture was sent in.
I wish I could say better things, but my KO experience has not been positive one.
Great service - exceeded expectations
