Very friendly and fast. Unfortunately, a few things were broken or damaged.
Movers took their time wrapping items and ensuring everything was protected. The team at Local Motion is amazing. Shout out to Li for helping me lift boxes and search for an item.
Update: 9/11/2024
Upon further inspection of things that have gone missing from our move, we have found that 30 of our personal moving blankets that we purchased prior to the move were taken with the moving team when they left.
Things that have been damaged or lost/stolen:
Drawer for king sized bed
multiple cooking items including Le creuset baking pans and dutch ovens
moving blankets
broken book shelves
I would also like to say that I have posted a portion of the previous response from the owner. I wish I would have had the whole thing it was absolutely atrocious.
I absolutely should have checked the reviews before I booked. I am so angry that I used Local Motion. When on our first call for an estimate I advised the guy we had A LOT of stuff. I estimated about 160 boxes and he told me “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there’s no way” I argued that no we do in fact have a lot of stuff but he adamantly said no and quoted me for half. I said ok you’re the expert.
Day of moving comes and we sure enough had 200 boxes. The movers start freaking out spending about an hour trying to get another crew there. Eventually 2 more guys show up but apparently are not part of the same team so I’m charged for 3 movers at 1 rate and 2 movers at another rate. I got a call that said “we are adjusting your amount” but no one told me by how much. And that I should have counted the boxes beforehand and called them to tell them I had more than the 70 quoted. Although that was not in their policy anywhere.
The movers themselves were nice but inefficient. I just built a new home and have to go back and fix large gouges and scrapes on my walls. One of the team members expressed that the new owners of the company are messing things up and a lot of people are having problems.
On the first day of our move I got a call to change my credit card on file I was told “you owe 1100 dollars” great I give them a new card number and was somehow charged 1522. The lady said it’ll come off my next days charge and that my remainder was about 400 dollars. I ended up paying over 4000 dollars for 2 days of movers because of their mistake but by reading the comments the owner will come back and blame me. I’ve still been over charged for my first day but trying to get a hold of anyone there is impossible. I’ve left multiple messages and have heard nothing back. They’re crooks.
As of today 8/22/24 things with Local Motion have not been resolved. They attempted to offer me 183 dollars for all the damages done to my home along with my missing items and my broken bed. They did tell me they would give me $60 more dollars if I surrendered the bed. ALONG with all of this generosity they sent me a gag order. I have never in my life been given an ultimatum from a company. So basically they told me if they pay me the measly amount that they were going to offer me for everything I have to remove my negative comments and I'm also not aloud to talk about the poor service. This should absolutely tell you that if you work with this company they are scamming people. Most people will sign because they just want to be done with it, but I am far more concerned about people knowing the truth about this. So I did not sign. Here is a copy of the gag order along with every charge that they put through my account. They apparently over charge on the day and then when it posts its for less. So I'm sorry I did not pay over $4000 in the end, it was only 3,732.31. The owners are crooks and as I said originally the owner comes on and berates the aggrieved customers and puts the blame on them, just like he did with me. The problem is that I come with receipts. I cannot prove that no one called me back, I could I suppose if I got into my phone records which I am not apposed to doing. I am happy to prove that no call back was made. But here I will leave all the fun stuff that Local Motion gave me in their abhorrent customer service.
Please make sure to ask yourself, if a company has to send a gag order to fix a mistake that they made how many people are staying silent?!
